StarFrame Update — July 29, 2026
🔊 Audio
- The engine makes noise now. It rises with your speed, and Sub-Light Cruise has its own sound.
- Every weapon has a fire and a hit sound. Missiles and siege guns were silent.
- You hear incoming damage even when your shield takes all of it. That case was silent too.
- Lock warnings. One tone when someone targets you, another when they get a missile lock, and a beep that speeds up as a missile closes. It pans to the side the missile is on.
- Mining plays a tone that follows your resonance. You can hold the channel without watching the scope.
- Ship AI chirps for docking range, low hull, shields down, incoming.
- Settings → Audio. Every channel has its own toggle and volume. Turn any of it off.
⚔️ Combat
- Missile lock needs the launcher armed. Having one fitted isn't enough.
- Tab cancels a lock while it's still acquiring. You had to wait for it to finish before.
- The three threat warnings are one line. TARGET LOCK, then MISSILE LOCK ON YOU, then MISSILE INCOMING with range and time to impact. Two of them used to show at once.
- Flares and jammers are always online. C fires them, rebindable in Settings.
- Flare recharge is slower: 30s / 25s / 20s / 15s by tier (was 15/14/13/12). Charges are a real resource now.
🖥️ UI & Quality of Life
- Module boxes use colour instead of words. Green is on, red is off. Amber still means fitted but unable to fire — no ammo, no cap, reloading, out of range.
- Rigs and countermeasures no longer take a number key. Your other modules shift down one.
- The skills menu remembers what you had open. Selected skill, collapsed sections and scroll position all survive closing it.
- Space dust reaches further out the faster you go, and thins as it stretches.
🚀 Flight
- Warp is now Sub-Light Cruise. Name only. Nothing about it changed and your keybind is untouched.
🎓 Skills
- Targeting Computers (Utility) only trains with a targeting computer fitted. It was training off any completed lock, on ships that had never carried one.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Fixed the missile lock warning firing when nobody had a missile lock. It counted anyone who had you targeted and owned a launcher.
- Fixed your party disbanding when you entered a rift.
- Fixed not being able to stop following a party leader once they were a jump away. Up close it worked; at range the button did nothing.
- Fixed hideout rings vanishing when you looked straight at them.
- Fixed a refit keeping the old countermeasure's charge count. A basic dispenser could hold seven.
- Fixed a refit to a larger dispenser never recharging.
🔩 Misc
- Study screen text rewritten. It was warning you that selling unstudied rigs is a gamble, on the screen where you study them.
- Premium menu text trimmed, and the lapse explanation is clearer.
