DeskLayer Update — 60 FPS DWM Smoothness, Zero-Freeze Autohide & Hub Polish
Hi everyone! This update delivers massive engine-level stability improvements, completely eliminating presentation stalls and input freezes during dock interaction, along with smarter auto-hide behavior and audio polish.
Engine & Performance Overhaul
- Eliminated DWM Presentation Lock: Removed invasive focus-stealing hooks that previously forced Windows DWM Direct Flip into contention. Cursor jumping and random input stutter during dock reveals are completely resolved.
- No More GPU Texture Eviction: Replaced legacy working-set trimming with safe async garbage collection, preventing DirectX swapchain drops and render thread errors (UCEERR).
- Instant Click-to-Hide: Resolved a 500ms post-click dispatcher freeze by deferring work-area broadcast updates off the main animation frame. Interacting with apps from the dock is now instantaneous.
Smarter Auto-Hide & Peek Mechanics
- Edge-Isolated Peek Trigger: When the dock is hidden in auto-hide mode, peek reveal is now strictly confined to the screen edge trigger zone. Enlarged dock magnification boxes and satellite bounds will no longer trigger false-positive reveals.
- Intelligent DeskLayer Hub Windowing: Opening the DeskLayer Settings/Hub window over a maximized application no longer forcefully wakes the hidden dock, unpauses video wallpapers, or forces widgets awake. Auto-hide cleanly respects your background workflow.
- Emergency Recovery Shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + D remains your dedicated emergency hotkey to force-wake the interface and reset occlusion under any circumstances.
Workshop & Audio Fidelity
- Full Audio Spectrum Alignment: Precise WASAPI extensible audio frequency mapping with zero distortion and ultra-responsive live visualizer waves.
- Workshop Detail Navigation: More resilient virtual machine navigation and preview flows when browsing and updating community presets.
- Streamlined Memory Management: Compact preview caching and background priority render loops for 60 FPS animation smoothness throughout the desktop session.
