Another Family Office Simulator update is live.
This one is smaller on the surface, but it corrects three places where the game could tell you something financially or operationally inaccurate.
ESTIMATED TAX OBLIGATIONS
FOS models estimated income tax through quarterly installments.
Previously, if checking did not contain enough cash when an installment came due, the payment simply did not occur. More importantly, that unpaid amount did not survive as an obligation and could eventually disappear when the tax year rolled forward.
That has been corrected.
• An estimated-tax installment that cannot be fully paid now remains outstanding.
• The game does not force checking into an overdraft just to make the payment.
• Outstanding installments are retried on later month closes, oldest first, when enough cash is available.
• Payments appear in Banking and Cash Flow only when cash actually moves.
• Save/reload and year-end progression preserve the unpaid obligation correctly.
Existing saves remain supported. The game will not invent missed historical tax obligations from periods before this tracking existed.
ACCOUNTING / FOUNDATION GIVING
I also found a reporting problem involving annual Foundation contributions.
The actual December contribution was only charged once, but Accounting could continue carrying that completed contribution into later current-period Profit & Loss calculations.
The cash ledger itself was correct, but the displayed operating result was not.
Completed Foundation giving now remains where it belongs in the historical financial record, including Cash Flow, philanthropy history and Annual Reports, without being repeated as a current run-rate expense in later periods.
PROPERTY MANAGER STATUS
The Property Manager quick reply to “Any tenant issues?” now correctly recognizes both late and delinquent tenants.
Previously, a property with delinquent tenants but no tenants in the earlier “late” state could incorrectly return:
“All tenants current. No issues to report.”
That response now follows the actual tenant status.
TESTING
This build went through focused financial and save/load regression testing, year-transition cases, packaged-runtime testing, adversarial review, existing-save testing and a private Steam build before promotion.
Existing saves are supported. No new game is required.
As always, if a financial number, message or state does not make sense, please tell me. Those reports are especially useful in a simulation like this because one small inconsistency can affect decisions several systems later.
Thanks again for continuing to help make FOS tighter and more trustworthy.
