FPV PVP v3.41
The hardest part of a small competitive game is not the flying, it is being online at the same moment as someone else. This update is about that: seeing who wants a game, telling you the truth about who is where, and never losing a match to a failure the game kept quiet about.
It also carries every fix from v3.40, which never went out - radio pilots especially should read the controller section.
FINDING A GAME
- Who wants a game. Pilots looking for a match now appear in the menu by name, with the mode they want. You are listed automatically while you are queueing or hosting a match that has not started, and there is an UP FOR A GAME toggle for when you simply want to be findable.
- Real player counts. Every listed match used to show 1 player forever, because joiners connect through the relay and never touched the listing. Hosts now publish the actual count, so the browser, the queue board and quick play's "join the fullest match" all mean what they say.
- Version-aware lists. A match hosted on an older build is shown as MISMATCH with its JOIN disabled, instead of letting you spend an entire connection attempt to be turned away at the door. It no longer inflates the counters either. And if YOUR build is the newer one, the game says so, rather than telling you to update.
- Ranked tells you the truth. FIND RANKED MATCH now says when fewer than 6 pilots are online: 5v5 needs 3 vs 3 real pilots and cannot start with fewer. It offers 1V1 RANKED, which places you with just two pilots, or QUICK PLAY instead. You can still host a ranked lobby and wait if you want to.
- Alone online? Instead of five zeros and a "scanning..." that reads like a dead game, you get one clear card: you are the only pilot online, bots fill every match, and any pilot who launches later can join you. One button starts that match.
- No more waiting for nothing. Quick play, 1v1 and ranked searches skip their scan passes when nobody else is online. You are flying within seconds, and other pilots can still drop into your game.
NOT LOSING THE MATCH YOU FOUND
- When the relay dies, the game says so. It used to freeze on "connected" with the bots and the round timer stopped, while your match kept being advertised with a join code nobody could use. Now the session ends with a message and you land back in the menu.
- A match that falls off the listing comes back. If the online listing expires - a laptop that slept, a service hiccup - the match is re-listed automatically under the same join code, with a line on screen while it is invisible to others.
- No more infinite CONNECTING. A connection that hangs fails with a message and a button after 45 seconds instead of sitting there until you restart the game.
- The host is kept informed. You are told when a pilot connects, when one leaves and their slot is being held, when that slot expires, and when someone was turned away for being on the wrong build.
RADIO AND CONTROLLER PILOTS
- A radio behaves like a radio. If Steam turns your RadioMaster or other EdgeTX radio into a gamepad, adopting it as your transmitter no longer leaks its switches into gamepad actions: no more teleport to spawn when you pull the trigger, no pause menu on a switch, no shop or scoreboard opening by itself, no menu focus wandering.
- The adoption sticks to the right device. It is pinned by name, slot and USB serial, so plugging in a real Xbox pad next to your radio never steals the RC role or its calibration. The adopt button now names the device it is about to take, and calibration is stored per physical device.
- Clicking no longer shoots. Buying in the shop or clicking on the scoreboard used to fire your weapon - every purchase cost a stray bullet and your spawn protection.
FIRST LAUNCH
- A fresh install now opens borderless fullscreen at your desktop resolution instead of a small window. If you have already set a display mode, it is left alone.
WHEN IT BREAKS
- If the game dies without warning, the next launch offers to send that session's log to me. It sends only when you click, never on its own, and the privacy policy spells out exactly what is in it. A silent crash was the one kind of bug report that could never reach me.
- REPORT BUG in the main menu still sends your log and a screenshot directly to me, and it is still the fastest way to get something fixed.
UNDER THE HOOD
- Host migration - the surviving pilot taking over when the host quits - is now covered by an automated test on every single release, alongside the controller self-test and the five-mode join test. That chain had been quietly broken before; it cannot break silently again.
- An in-game public chat room for the main menu is built into this version and switched off for now. It turns on from the server side, with no third party involved and no extra download.
- Live services now retry properly on a cold or flaky connection, so the news banner is not silently missing on a slow link.
Thanks for flying. If something here is wrong, tell me through REPORT BUG - I read every one.
