A major new update for NOCTIRIA
Over the last few days I have continued working directly on the feedback received from players.
This update affects several areas of the game, including character progression, balance, Fatture, Poison, Unknown events and the variety of decisions available during a run.
Improved character progression
I have continued reducing the feeling of grinding by moving several build-defining cards earlier in each character's progression.
The goal is not simply to unlock everything faster, but to allow each character to reveal their core mechanics much sooner.
Several important cards for Shadow, Mist, Void, Parasite, Abyss and Reflection are now unlocked earlier.
Full card progression still extends up to level 30.
Void comes online much sooner
Some of Void's most important cards were previously unlocked too late.
Several key cards for Black Hole and Dissolve builds have been moved earlier, including:
Orbital Absence
Eye of the Void
Lightless Body
Mist balance changes
Some combinations could create nearly infinite turns through zero-cost cards that drew cards, generated Mist or returned to the hand.
Several cards involved in these loops now cost 1 Mana instead of 0.
Free setup cards that do not enable these loops remain unchanged.
Act 4 balance adjustments
An abnormal value affecting Grath has been corrected.
Its Intoxication started at a dramatically higher value than comparable enemies and could generate extreme amounts of Poison in only a few turns.
Its starting value has been reduced while keeping the enemy dangerous.
New ways to counter Poison
Two new consumables have been added:
Improvised Antidote
Completely removes Poison.
Purifying Serum
Completely removes Poison and restores 20 HP.
These provide new ways to prepare for areas and enemies that rely heavily on Poison.
Two new Fatture
Blood Filter
At the start of each of your turns, remove 3 Poison.
Predatory Echo
The first Attack card played each turn deals its damage twice.
Predatory Echo does not replay the entire card. Mana, draw, status effects and other secondary effects are still applied only once.
Ritual Recharge fixed
Ritual Recharge contained an internal configuration error that prevented its intended effect from working correctly.
Its counter now correctly displays:
1/3 → 2/3 → 3/3
and grants the additional Mana on the third turn as intended.
Seventh Sentence counter fixed
After activating on turn 10, its counter no longer incorrectly starts again from 1/10.
Since the effect is one-time only, the counter now disappears after activation.
10 new Unknown events
Ten entirely new encounters have been added:
• The Out-of-Order Arcade
• Midnight Supermarket
• Parking Level -2
• The 24-Hour Copy Shop
• The Night Pharmacy
• The Last Edition Newsstand
• The Running Garage
• The Red Car Wash
• The Empty Dental Office
• Pirate Radio 97.3
Each event offers four choices plus the option to leave.
Their consequences have been designed to affect the run more meaningfully through Gold, HP, Corruption, cards, upgrades, duplication, Fatture and consumables.
Unknown events can now lead to Elite battles
Five existing events now contain a new choice clearly marked:
[ELITE]
These choices offer stronger rewards but are followed by an Elite battle from the current Act.
Events currently featuring these options include:
• Blood ATM
• The Eyeless Doll
• Photo Booth
• The Floorless Elevator
• Closed Video Rental Store
This makes Unknown events more strategically relevant and introduces new risk-versus-reward decisions.

Thank you for your feedback
Many of the changes in this update come directly from reports and reviews received after launch.
I will continue working on balance, game feel, run variety and the overall quality of NOCTIRIA.
Thank you to everyone playing and helping me improve the game.
