This is a BIG Update! I'm pretty proud of this one! Thank you for all the feedback ːsteamthumbsupː
I was at the Cleveland Gaming Classic this past week, met some amazing people, got a new tattoo and a whole HECK of a lot of feedback!
I got a lot of questions like "Why can't I jump?" and "Why can't I dodge up and down while flying?" "Why X and not A in the menus?"
So then I got home.... slept... couldn't sleep... eh whatever.... put on my devs pants and started to grind.
Long story short - I added Jumping, Jump Attacks, Barrel Roll, Swimming and it makes for a much more fun and fluid experience! While I was at it I made plenty of Quality of life improvements. Overhauled the physics/collision detection/movment boundaries for the player and like a million other tiny details that I discovered while at the show. Just little polish things that were bugging me.
This is the Player jumping on ground levels
The is the jumping Attack and Landing - FYI if you have the angel sword in now sends a shockwave the the air attack lands!!!! It's super dope!
This is the Landing Shockwave
This is the new Air Dodge/Barrel Roll - If you hold up or down while flying and hit C(Keyboard) - B(xbox) - Circle(Playstation) you'll go into a spin that gives you i-frames and greatly increases your vertical mobility!
Last but not least I added more vertical movment in the swimming level - The Abyss
Now if a player is pressing down or idle the will start sinking rapidly! However, if you press jump you'll quickly swim up. This allows for far greater vertical movment andreally adds to that sinking feeling in the level!
There's a couple other things I did just to add standardization and polish
Standardized menu buttons to make navigation easier
Cleaned up hit detection and animations so players get better feedback for when they are hit and when they hit an enemy
Redid all the movment boundaries (had to because of the new movement options using new physics collision boxes)
Updated player flying animation to look more fluid
Updated Controls/Options screen to accomodate new movement
Added new Intro screens for The Farm & Axolotl King levels
Fixed some bugs around enemies not dying on Ghost Ship
Fixed some of the secret items for not spawning properly when starting a new game
A bunch of other cool stuff
Big Thanks to: MJ, Josh, JOEcade, W-REX, JRiggs, Kasey H, Kev @ Birdtek, 19FOX, MeatCat and a bunch of others for there feedback and postivity!
More on the way! Stay tuned and keep beating the HECK of those demons!
