Greetings, Atlanteans!
Two weeks ago, we released our first trailer for Seaforge: Shores of Atlantis. Since then, nearly 5,000 of you have added the game to your Steam wishlists. Thank you! The response has been incredibly encouraging for a tiny team like ours, and we’d like to start sharing more of what happens behind the scenes as we continue development.
For our first dev update, we’re taking a look at one of our newest additions: windmills!

Harnessing the wind
In Seaforge, you’ll need to generate energy to power more advanced crafting stations at your home base. Windmills will be one of the ways for you to do it.
Visually, the windmills you can build in-game are inspired by the classic windmills of Mykonos and other Greek islands. We currently have two versions: a smaller, more basic windmill for getting started and a larger, more advanced model that will generate more power later in the game.
And, like many of the structures in Seaforge, they’ll be paintable!
Some of you were curious to see how we make 3D assets for our game. So, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the windmill:
New capsule art is in the works
Over the past 2 weeks, we’ve received many kind remarks on the overall look and vibe of Seaforge’s Mediterranean world. But some of you said the capsule art wasn’t up to the standard of the 3D world. We agree: capsule art is its own specialty, and one that we don’t have in-house. So now we’re collaborating with a pro artist whose art we feel is a perfect match for the game. We’ll be working with him to create new capsule art that will capture the sense of wonder and adventure at the heart of Seaforge.
This process will take some time, but we’re excited to share the finished artwork when it’s ready!
Japanese localization
We’re also excited to announce that Seaforge will be localized into Japanese!
We’re continuing to evaluate additional languages based on interest from players and the resources available to us. If there is a language you would especially like to play Seaforge in, please let us know in the comments.
Up next: UI
Our next major development focus will be the user interface.
The current UI is functional but largely placeholder, so we’ll be working on improving its appearance and overall fit with the world of Seaforge. This will include revisiting menus, inventory screens, interaction prompts, and other elements players will use throughout the game.
We expect this to be an ongoing process, but we’re looking forward to giving the interface much more personality.
We are also working on some additional crafting stations that should give you a better idea of how crafting will work in Seaforge. We’re excited to share more details about those in the coming weeks.
What would you like to see next?
Thank you again for following Seaforge and supporting the game early in development!
