A little info about me
My name is Peyton, a 27 year old from South Carolina in the United States. This is a project I've been working on since around August of 2025, mostly solo, but with the help of a friend occasionally. And this is my first project that I plan to release to the public. It's a bit of a passion project with all the bits and pieces of games that I personally enjoy and wanted to see put into a game I would have fun with. I enjoy playing games with friends and goofing around, but still like to learn a bit and be technically challenged with some management elements and a learning curve, thus the idea behind Prestige Electric Company.
A little info about Prestige Electric Company
Prestige Electric Company started with the idea of creating something of a "friendslop" title that I enjoy with my friends, but combined with a bit of the engineering and mechanics I like to learn about. I don't have a background in electrical engineering or power plant management, but went through a bit of research to at least give a similar feel of the process of how a coal fired power plants work (and potentially more types in the future), albeit with a gamified approach to give it the chaotic friendslop vibe. This game will not be a fully realistic simulator with industry standard language, processes, layouts, etc., but I still want the player to feel in control, smart, and reward learning efficient layouts and processes.
What the game will offer
Here's what I plan on having at launch.
Fully functioning and explorable power plant
Complete with a turbine hall, boiler room, tunnels, delivery dock, and more.
Dynamic Damage
All the machinery will have damage dependent on conditions (heat, pressure, RPM, etc.) and damage will effect outputs, inputs, durability, and even cause safety issues that can damage you such as leaking steam pipes. Damage won't just be a health bar, but will be physical damage that needs specific tools to fix, such as a wrench to tighten loose bolts, a welder to fix up pipes, and more.
Fully adjustable control panels
One of the most unique aspects of my game in my opinion will be my control panel system. This system will allow you to lay out different sized modules that can monitor any metric you can think of from any of the machines. By default, you'll have to run to the machine to read specific metrics such as water input, steam output, pressure. Once telemetry upgrades are unlocked for your machines, you'll be able to purchase wireless receivers and that can read the data and remotely send it to the plant's control room. I'll try to create an announcement in the future that goes into more of the specifics of this feature later if you're interested in learning more!
Management elements and upgrades
The plant includes an entire office section complete with a management office that allows you to coordinate deliveries such as coal and maintenance materials. You'll also be able to purchase machine and general plant upgrades from the computer as well. There's going to be plenty of stats to delve into, like finances, and daily/hourly power consumption predictions.
Player progression
Each day, players will be dropped off at a hardware store to purchase upgrades not available at the managers office with their daily paycheck rather than company cash. Some upgrades include better tools, new toolbelts for carrying capacity, better modules for the control room, and more.
An early timeframe estimate
I work a fulltime job 46 hours a week and work on Prestige Electric Company completely on my free time outside of work. That being said, progress is steady, and it's something I enjoy working on. I want to make sure that players get everything they want out of this game and more, and have fun time while they're at it, so I want to deliver the best product possible. This is my first major project to completion, which means there's probably going to be many things I haven't accounted developing for, but an early estimate will be in the realm of a year from now, June 2027. I'm trying to give myself a bit of extra time than my optimistic side is telling me I'll be ready by, but I'll be able to give you guys a better breakdown closer to release of the state of things.
I want your thoughts, ideas, and questions
If you have anything to share or questions to ask, let me know at [email protected]. I'd love to build a community around this niche of a game and get your insights.
