Ok, so things are getting real!
Six days until Northgard hits early access and we wanted to drop in and say hi and thanks for all of the support! We’re all super busy putting the finishing touches on the game and getting excited about next week!
As you may have noticed, there are some gameplay videos hitting Youtube, so now you will really get to see what the gameplay looks like. You’ll be able to find a few people streaming over the weekend too, so keep your eyes open. We’ve sent keys to a small group of youtubers, streamers and journalists but if you know some great content creators don’t hesitate to let them know about us or suggest them to us in the comments.
Before we talk about the price, here are a few of the videos:

Now, to business... We’ve been interested to see what people have been saying on the community hub and we’re pretty happy because we were right on the money with our pricing. On Wednesday next week you’ll be able to buy Northgard for $19.99, 19.99€ and £15.99. The rest of the world prices will be based off of the US price of $19.99 and automatically generated by Valve.
We feel like this is a good place to start for the base version of the game, plus the coming months worth of updates. What do you think? From what we’ve seen this shouldn’t be too far off most people’s expectations.
As for the post Early Access price, yes it will most likely be more expensive. We’re not sure how much yet, but we’ll work with the community and come up with something that’s fair and representative of the playtime and content that we’re offering.
Here’s some more videos, before we have another look at the roadmap.

So one week from the Early Access launch, we wanted to take a look at the road-map again, so that you know what we’ve got planned and where things could go. The major areas that we’re going to look at during the EA are:
- New playable clans with unique gameplay characteristics. These shouldn’t take too long at all, we’ve got some fun ideas that we’re testing right now, so stay tuned!
- A full story driven campaign. The idea is to string together a bunch of interesting game mechanics and guide you through them with a campaign that reveals some more of Northgard through its story.
- Multiplayer! We’re still working on the basic idea and taking into account the feedback we see on the community hub. More news to come.
Of course there’ll be a stack of other small improvements that we’d like to use to flesh out the base game. For example, some more in depth diplomacy mechanics, a deeper trading system, more in game events (natural disasters and whatnot) and some new victory conditions.
These will of course be accompanied by regular bug fixes, patches and little performance tweaks. Most importantly we want to mention that, while we’re confident that the items mentioned here will be included, this is subject to your feedback and all of the other things that can happen during an Early Access.
So what about a time range? Well at a rough estimate we’d say anything from 2 to 6 months. Two months being the time we’d need to implement the features we’ve already got in mind/underway plus some basic feature requests from you guys. Six months being the “all in” option, or the “oh god what’s this bug…” option. In any case we’ll keep you posted throughout the development.
So there’s a bit of a rundown on what we’ve been up to, if you think we’ve forgotten anything, just bump us in the comments.
Thanks again and see you in the game soon!
The Shiro Team
