This update turns One Life Through from a straight line into a map: seven floors, fourteen nodes, and you only walk seven of them — which seven is up to you. Some of those stops are events. There are five new relics to find on the way. And the moment the gun goes off is now yours to decide.

Five New Relics
- Chairman's Scheme (Legendary) — Win mangan or higher on a single wait for the visible dora, and after normal loading the cylinder is topped up to half if it's below.
- Miyoshi's Glimpse (Rare) — Once the opponent locks his hand, a 30% chance each hand to learn which suits he's waiting on: characters, circles, bamboo or honors. The answer lives in the relic's tooltip.
- Traffic Light (Legendary) — Discard characters → circles → bamboo to add a stack; honors or the wrong order reset the cycle. Stacks carry across hands up to 50, with a reward at 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 30 / 50: coins, live rounds next hand, +1 win load, +1 relic slot, +1 starting round, and an extra life. The little signal on the rail really lights: one lamp per discard, all three blink when a cycle completes, and the whole thing strobes when you hit a milestone.
- Single Path (Legendary) — One extra life the moment you take it; from then on the road has no forks: greenhorn → minion → minion → elite → minion → elite → boss.
- Damp Primer (Rare) — When the opponent fires with two live rounds or fewer, his gun always misfires. No ammunition is spent and none of your fuses, lives or substitutes are touched.
The New Map
- Seven floors, fourteen stops: the greenhorn always first, two elite branches on floor four, the boss last. The whole map is generated and saved when you set out, and a fork, once taken, can't be walked back.
- Fog: floors you haven't reached are question marks. So is the node you're standing on — click it at the start to see who's sitting across from you. Nodes you've walked or scouted stay lit; the boss's identity and rule are still announced up front.
- Run wallet: coins earned on the way go into a per-run wallet, which is what the map events spend. When the run ends — cleared or not — it converts 1:1 into your vault.
Twelve Random Events
You'll run into these on the road. Every one of them can be skipped outright, at no cost:
- Sealed Package — a random relic; once drawn, you keep it.
- Barter — two relics for one random legendary.
- Route Peek — reveal every reachable node on the next floor.
- Blind Loading — next fight, +2 live rounds for you or for him, a coin flip.
- Unload One — next fight, the opponent starts with one round fewer.
- Relic Salvage — sell a relic for 25 coins.
- Old Repair Shop — 20 coins for one more use on a consumable.
- Chamber Tuning — next fight, your cylinder −1 chamber or his +2, your choice.
- Ura Dora Tip — the first hand of the next fight shows the ura dora up front.
- Dangerous Contract — next opponent starts with +1 live round; beat him for 30 coins.
- Black-market Reroll — 30 coins for one more relic reroll this run.
- Roadside Informant — take 15 coins, or pay 15 to reveal one future node.
The Tempo Is Yours
- You pull the trigger. Once the zoom has closed in and the hand has started to shake, a mouse icon appears: the hammer doesn't fall until you left-click. Online too — the other machine waits for your click before its gun goes off.
- The settlement no longer plays itself out. When a hand's settlement has finished laying everything out, it stops and waits for one more click. No more being pushed into loading before you've read the numbers.
Other Changes
- Achievements have icons now: the archive's achievement wall uses the same icon set as Steam, kept in sync.
- The map screen is readable: the old-TV look stays, but ghosting, scanlines and the tube vignette are dialed back and the type is larger.
- Tab / Esc in the top-right corner are keycap icons now.
- Lucky Cat: elites and bosses you meet afterwards each carry a fuse that eats your first lethal round.
Bug Fixes
- Duplicated tiles during selection: When the game stuttered, clicking the same tile quickly could put it into your hand several times. A tile can now only be picked once.
- The second before a ron: After you discarded a tile your opponent could win on, you could keep discarding during the beat before he called it — and reaching 17 steps turned his win into a draw. You can no longer discard during that beat. Thanks to the player who reported this even though it worked in their favour.
- Multiplayer stuck on "Steam not connected":
- If the game is opened without going through Steam (a desktop shortcut, a booster app's one-click launch), Steam now relaunches it properly.
- If the game started before Steam finished signing in, clicking Multiplayer again now reconnects — no restart needed.
- If your Steam client is out of date, the game now tells you to update it; for any other cause, Steam's own explanation is shown under the message.
- Launching through the compatibility script (launch_compatibility.cmd) no longer breaks multiplayer.
- More accurate crash reports: A few false "save failed to parse" warnings are gone, and reports now record the display mode and whether the window had just lost focus, so crashes are easier to track down.
Still can't connect, or crashing?
- Still "Steam not connected": in Steam's top-left menu choose Check for Steam Client Updates, then fully quit and reopen Steam. Also make sure neither Steam nor the game is set to Run as administrator.
- White screen or frequent crashes (especially on older graphics cards): update your graphics driver first. If that doesn't help, right-click the game in your Steam library → Properties → Launch Options and enter --rendering-method gl_compatibility --rendering-driver opengl3 to use compatibility mode.
Save compatibility: old five-table linear runs continue under their original rules; the new relics only appear in the new map's reward pool.
As always: seventeen steps, and one of you leaves.
