Hard AI Overhaul
The forge-masters have been studying. Hard difficulty got a full rework, and Medium picked up a few of its tricks.
Hard AI
- It uses the Hammer now. Hard used to hold a fully armed SLAM forever. It now weighs the SLAM against every placement and fires when it's worth it. It also plans around the charge it's building.
- No more bottom-right habit. The AI opened in the same corner far too often. Openings now vary, and plate placement weighs how exposed a plate will be to what's still unplayed.
- It sets traps. Hard will sometimes leave a juicy capture on the table on purpose, then punish you for taking it. Look before you leap.
- Tougher overall. In internal testing the new Hard beat the old Hard about 60% of the time.
Medium AI
- Also plays fewer corner-first openings and more varied games.
- Occasionally sets a bait move of its own.
Improvements & Fixes
- The AI now thinks in the background during its turn, so the game no longer hitches while Hard searches for a move.
- Player names and titles on the battle tablet use a new, more readable font. Any Steam name now reads clearly at a glance.
- If a SLAM shatters every plate and clears the board, the next plate can now be placed anywhere, the same as the opening move.
Thanks for playing, and for all the feedback on the AI. Keep it coming!
