Update v0.008 - improvements since v0.007
This update focuses on making the first playable flow stronger: a more complete story intro, clearer onboarding, a more cinematic combo moment, better combat readability, and broader visual polish across runs, rewards, modular characters, and Steam/export-facing content.
Main visible improvements in this cycle include:
a new story intro flow with illustrated backgrounds, narration support, subtitles, and smoother scene transitions
a much stronger onboarding tutorial with clearer guidance, improved enemy pacing, better popups, and a more reliable combo step
a new cinematic combo presentation with dedicated camera framing, character cards, audio, timing, and visual effects
improved ability and auto-attack behavior, including clearer targeting, burst spread, damage feedback, and pause/build stat breakdowns
expanded visual polish for fire, lightning, ice, enemy deaths, hit reactions, pickups, chests, and combo area effects
broader modular character content and stronger Steam/export resource safety for player parts, reveals, and runtime assets
Story intro and first-time presentation
added a more complete opening story sequence for Morphito with illustrated scenes and narrative pacing
improved story scene transitions, background readability, subtitle timing, and first-time flow into the game
added new narrative audio and visual assets for the intro sequence
polished the new game flow so the first playable moments connect more smoothly with the tutorial
Tutorial and onboarding improvements
improved tutorial pacing, enemy spawn timing, popup entrance feel, and guidance text
made the tutorial combo step more reliable and readable, with a dedicated visible combo area and delayed effect timing after the cinematic moment
fixed cases where the tutorial combo could feel delayed, repeat incorrectly, miss its intended targets, or remain unclear after first use
after the required tutorial combo is used once, the combo buttons are locked for that section; if the player dies and retries, that section resets and the combo can be used again
improved controller, keyboard, and mouse handling across tutorial prompts and tutorial HUD highlights
Combos, combat feel, and ability clarity
added a cinematic combo overlay with stronger character framing, skill cards, audio cues, and presentation timing
improved combo camera composition, front-facing presentation, card frames, and visual sync
improved auto-attack targeting options so burst spread and target selection behave more clearly and consistently
improved several ability behaviors and visuals, including fire beam, fireball burn behavior, lightning burst targeting, fire trail feedback, and horde multi-target handling
improved damage feedback so single-target and total area damage are easier to read during runs
Visual effects, enemies, and run readability
added and improved several stylized VFX paths, including generic fire effects, infernal core visuals, hit reactions, ice shatter, lightning death effects, and enemy fragment bursts
improved enemy spawn telegraphs, enemy death feedback, and combat impact readability
improved combo area visuals and VFX prewarming to reduce first-use stutter
improved pickup and chest presentation, including clearer reward drops and better behavior under heavier runtime pressure
improved camera behavior and run visual stability in several gameplay situations
Pause, build, rewards, and progression readability
improved the pause/build screen with clearer runtime stat breakdowns, damage information, and ability/source details
improved reward flow and level-up presentation, including clearer affinity labels and auto-attack modifier handling
improved progression snapshots so newly acquired weapons and shared auto-attack modifiers stay aligned
improved top-right HUD status, minimap behavior, reward feed feedback, and run overlay reliability
Hub, Forge, Incubator, and modular character polish
improved Forge tree smoothness, labels, input handling, and readability around residual progression values
improved Incubator reveal reliability, runtime piece assembly, preview framing, and final Morphito presentation safety
expanded modular player part support, runtime wrapper scenes, binary runtime scenes, and export-ready asset coverage
improved character roster and loadout presentation with better visual offsets, combat profile details, and piece-derived information
added more safeguards for player part assets so editor, local export, and Steam builds stay closer to each other
Steam/export readiness and stability
improved Steam/export resource contracts so critical runtime assets are less likely to be missing from exported builds
improved handling for modular player part dependencies, generated runtime scenes, and content used by tutorial, run entry, and Incubator reveal flows
improved build/export tooling and checks around shipped resources
fixed several crash or parse-risk cases found during this cycle, including typed array, parser, VFX class, and packed byte array issues
broadened regression coverage around tutorial, combo presentation, story intro, combat, rewards, modular assembly, and export-facing content
