Hi fellow managers!
We have been super busy this past month, as preparing everything to announce this game took a lot of work, and launching another game in the mean time didn’t help! Now that things are more chill for us, I wanted to spend some time writing our first devlog to introduce ourselves.
So, who are we?
We are OverPowered Team, a small Spanish indie studio made up of 5 friends who met more than a decade ago in university. We have been working together pretty much since our first year there, starting with small game jams and moving into Steam and consoles right when we graduated. As you may see in our catalog, we love all sorts of games, and that has made us explore and have fun working on a lot of different genres. Monster Zoo Tycoon is our first manager, but we have previously worked on another unreleased manager (that sadly got put indefinitely on hold) from which we learned A LOT and made us eager to prove ourselves capable of making something fun and unique.
The story behind Monster Zoo Tycoon
It was a couple of years ago when Beto, one of our programmers, pointed out that he had always missed having a zoo-managing game with monsters. There are plenty of standard zoos like Planet Zoo and Let’s Build a Zoo and some with dinosaurs like Jurassic World and Parkasaurus. It was later, when further exploring the idea that we thought that just adding monsters wouldn’t really make the game stand out that much. We wanted to give it a twist! That’s when the goofyness and original humor from games like Two Point and Evil Genius popped into mind. Why not add AN EVIL CULT? And make everyone incredibly stupid! Let the cult hide in plain sight, and hope that visitors think it’s just part of the park's theme rather than a world-ending secret cult. Drawing inspiration from our most loved tycoon and management games, pop culture and our studios’ internal goofy humour, Monster Zoo Tycoon’s development was right on track!
Our publisher
Being pleased after having worked with them in the past with Godstrike and Ruin Raiders, we pitched our project to Indie.io, and they were super into this project. We are happy to bring another game with our joint effort, and we’re sure that thanks to their help our game will end up being an even greater experience!
Sneak peek!
I didn’t want to leave this post without giving you a small sneak peek of some of the monsters in development for the game, so let me drop some fun stuff in the works!

The Treant is our friendly yet spooky Hybrid tree-person-giant-humanoid-creature! Lovers of plants, flowers, trees and nature. Please don't confuse them with dogs due to all of their bark!

The Golems are Cursed elemental creatures that float around in their heavy rock-like bodies. They love being surrounded by all sorts of pebbles, stones, lava, and anything rock-solid.

We couldn't miss the spooky scary Skeleton! These Undead creatures love hanging out with other fellow undeads, They are fun beings that enjoy company, although they have a bone to pick when paired with werewolves...

Witches enjoy consuming Souls from their cauldron! They are masters of magic, group up several Witches for them to create their own friendly coven. Be careful though, too many of them and you'll have a hard time knowing which witch is which!

Do you want to build a Snowman? How about summon one? These ice Beasts will make your bones shiver with their frozen breath. Don't laugh at how goofy they look jumping around the place, they are very bad tempered!
That's all, folks!
We’re keen on showing you more and share some more news, so stay tuned to the next devlog!
Don’t forget to wishlist the game and be welcome to our Discord server to have a chat with us, the community and be notified of our latest news!
Cheers!
