Hello everyone!
A new Broken Crown update is now available.
This update focuses heavily on improving Map Studio, making custom map creation easier, more flexible and capable of supporting much larger battles.
We've also worked on navigation and unit movement, with improvements to both NavMesh generation and pathfinding.
Map Studio Interface Rework
The custom map creation interface has received a major improvement.
Creating a new battlefield should now feel much clearer and more intuitive, with the available settings better organized and easier to understand.
The goal was to make Map Studio less intimidating for first-time creators while giving more control to players who want to build more complex maps.
Custom Maps Now Support Up to 8 Players
One of the biggest changes in this update is the expansion of custom maps from smaller battles to up to 8 players.
This makes it possible to create much larger scenarios, with more starting positions, more factions and significantly bigger battles.
Whether you want to create a compact duel or a large battlefield for several armies, Map Studio now gives you considerably more freedom.
Multiple Map Sizes
Custom maps can now be created using different map sizes.
Smaller maps work well for faster and more aggressive matches, while larger maps provide more room for exploration, economy, base building and large-scale battles.
Combined with the new 8-player limit, this gives creators much more control over the type of match they want to build.
More Map Settings
We've also expanded the available settings when creating a map.
Map creators now have more options to customize their battlefield before starting, making it easier to create maps built around different playstyles and ideas.
This is another step toward making Map Studio a more complete tool rather than simply a basic map generator.
Improved NavMesh & Pathfinding
Navigation has also received another round of improvements.
We've worked on both NavMesh generation and unit pathfinding, improving how units calculate their routes and move around the battlefield.
These changes are especially important on larger and more complex maps, where armies need to navigate around terrain, buildings and other obstacles reliably.
You should generally see more consistent movement and better route selection during battles.
Keep Creating!
It's been great to see the first custom maps appearing on the Steam Workshop.
Map Studio is still something we intend to keep improving, and this update significantly expands what can already be created with it.
If you've already experimented with the editor, give the new version a try, and if you create something you're proud of, publish it to the Steam Workshop!
We're looking forward to seeing what you build.
As always, thank you for playing Broken Crown and for following its development.
See you on the battlefield!
