PATCH 1.1.0 (TESTAMENTS UPDATE)
MULTIPLAYER (BETA)
I heard your requests, you can now play with your FRIENDS all-together!
IMPORTANT: playing multiplayer will not count for your main-game progress, this means that if you haven't unlocked perks you won't be able to unlock them in your multiplayer runs.
Steam lobbies up to 6 players — lobbies, friends-only vía invite. Steam invites and Discord invites both ride to the same lobby, so you can pull friends in from either platform. (You must have Discord activity enabled and visible for the prompt to show!)
Proximity voice chat — Steam-backed voice, voice-chat is positional in-maze and flat in the lobby/computer room/spectator mode! You can also tweak voice settings for other players in the pause menu. (you can disable/mute your microphone in lobby, although, the game was intended with internal voice chat in mind)
Custom edusonas — create your own EDU! This is how players will see you in the multiplayer mode.
(please don't make me regret making this feature...)
It is highly likely that your experience might be affected due to internet quality condition, so please report any issues you might find.
ALSO please record gameplay clips because I have been laughing a lot with this mode.
HANGOUT PERKS
There's a new type of perk, only appearing in MULTIPLAYER runs, these are tagged with [HANGOUT]. You can check them in COLLECTION.
NEW ENTITY
That's all I'm going to say.
NEW BIOME — THE BACKROOMS
I SWEAR TO GOD I ALWAYS GET LOST IN THESE, anyways, you may want to start vaulting now. :)
Grid layout — square rooms, plenty of windows, four quadrants, and exactly one passage between adjacent quadrants.
Buttons evenly distributed across the four quadrants — you'll always see the whole floor at least once.
Vault-friendly playground — perfect biome for stacking poster pickups and chained jumps if you've built around them.
Vault speed in the backrooms is tweaked, both for you and EL EDU.
THE TESTAMENT AND JUDGEMENT SYSTEM
There's a new type of perk, once properly unlocked your perk pool will start offering TESTAMENT perks. Pick three of the same alignment to unlock the matching JUDGEMENT.
VIRTUES:
Diligence
Patience
Temperance
Charity
SINS:
Greed
Pride
Laziness
Wrath
Judgements (granted on three of the matching alignment):
Gift of Virtue — every powered button creates a temporary blessed zone that reveals non-stealthed EDU, speeds up cooldowns, and buffs allied movement and vault speed.
Wages of Sin — adds extra buttons per floor and grants a cursed aura that auto-presses unpowered buttons. Each press grows the aura, and EL EDU chasing you inside it is slowed.
Once you've picked three of one alignment, the other alignment stops appearing in your pool for the rest of the run.
NEW PERKS
Firefly [HANGOUT]
Pineapple Pizza
The Warning [HANGOUT]
Let Me Out
Rafael
Auxiliary Capacitor
Better Together [HANGOUT]
Great Escape [HANGOUT]
Leave It To Me [HANGOUT]
Ultimate Despair [HANGOUT]
Plus the eight TESTAMENTS and two JUDGEMENTS listed above.
TIPS
We added tips to help you discover things during the gameplay.
FIRST-TIME TIPS — the first time you face certain mechanics you will be greeted with a tip. (SINGLEPLAYER ONLY)
On-death recurring tip for deaths by certain mechanics.
QUALITY OF LIFE
MARATHON streak QoL — countdown audio cue, engine-rev SFX while running, perk now starts each floor with a usable cooldown so it's playable from the opening seconds.
Better notification batching — unlocking a stack of perks at once (e.g. surviving THE ANGEL for the first time) no longer overlaps ten notification sounds in a single frame.
"SIMPLER JUMPSCARE" — we got asked to include a different jumpscare, we hope this stands up to the request.
SAVE MIGRATION — IMPORTANT
If your highest reached floor was above 10, it has been rolled back to 10 in this patch. The 1.1.0 release is a major content + balance pass (a new biome, a new entity, two new perk subtrees, multiplayer scaling), and we want every player's "best run" to reflect the new game. Your old record is acknowledged silently for now in your save-data.
You'll see a one-time tip on the main menu the next time you launch, explaining the rollback. Steam leaderboards may also reset depending on the board — sorry for the churn, and thank you for understanding.
Thanks for sticking with EDU SIMULATOR through the 1.0 cycle. This update is the biggest content drop the game has had since launch — we hope you enjoy it. Good luck out there.
