Hi everyone,

v1.8.7 has been released:

ChatGPT / Codex App Integration (BETA) Improvements

Expanded the ChatGPT / Codex app connection with a new Personalize Ciel option. Users can describe supported changes naturally, such as adjusting Ciel’s personality, creating a theme, adding a reaction, creating a custom skill, or making a custom game. Ciel prepares a summary of the proposed changes for review. Nothing is applied until the proposal is approved inside CielChan. Changes can be refined through follow-up replies, discarded, undone, saved as profiles, imported, or exported.

Custom games can also be created with this system and currently use a small selection of CielChan’s existing 2D minigame frameworks and supported elements from the 3D World Sim idle system. Game generation is functional but currently very limited and extremely simple. The available mechanics, objects, interactions, and creation options will be expanded in future updates.

Personalization automatically uses Codex when connected. Connection recovery, cancellation, timeouts, validation feedback, and stalled-task handling have also been improved.

You can select your preferred Chat GPT model and settings within the Connections / Advanced / Troubleshoot section.

Write a proposal such as change the color of my UI. Change my personality etc.

If there's any issues or additions needed, you can ask for them to be fixed up or added.

Codex Tasks have also been improved with clearer tool validation, permission, availability, busy-state, and path-related feedback. Tasks retain their existing conversation and thread context while providing more useful information when an action cannot be completed or needs correction.

Personalization Profiles and Themes

Added locally saved personalization profiles with preview, approval, undo, rollback, import, export, and recovery support.

Added a protected Default profile for returning to CielChan’s original personalization settings.

Users can import PNG or JPEG artwork as a theme. Imported images are resized safely, preserve their aspect ratio, display behind chat responses, persist between sessions..

Added Import Theme Image and Remove Applied Theme Image controls to UI Color settings. Removing an image also clears related generated patterns, symbols, and decorative accents without affecting unrelated personalization. Font Color Change is also located here as well.

Custom Games [BETA]

Personalization can create supported branching adventures, quizzes, and grid-based games using CielChan’s existing minigame framework. Approved games appear under Minigames → Custom Games and remain playable without Codex connected.

Personalization can also create custom limited World Sim scenarios using the existing survival stats, currency, events, choices, flags, goals, and installed object palette. Each custom scenario has separate progress and does not replace the original World Sim save. Generated 3D World Sim stages can also be edited in the World Sim editor.

Custom World Sim games include a basic responsive HUD showing the game title, stats, goal progress, and Check In action. Optional AI commentary can also respond to the game’s premise and current state.

Added placeholder enemy, collectible, hazard, goal, and supply markers to the World Sim object palette for use when building custom scenarios, with further expansion planned for future updates.

Voice Persistence Fixes

Fixed selected Kokoro voices sometimes returning to the default after restarting CielChan. Saved choices are now restored consistently across legacy and native Sherpa routes.

Fixed ElevenLabs voice selections being saved by the interface but not restored to the active speech provider during startup.

Desktop Overlay and Interface Improvements

Added a Chat Output Font Color setting for changing the main LLM response text color.

Fixed repeated chat-panel updates restarting the opening animation and sometimes leaving the response background partially transparent.

Improved theme-aware text readability across Minigames, Ciel Social, Book Reader, Observation, Multiplayer, and other layered panels.

Simplified the everyday Codex connection and personalization interface, while keeping technical settings, diagnostics, profiles, and raw proposal details available under Advanced sections.

Conversation Improvements

Normal manual chat now defaults more strongly toward concise, complete answers while continuing to expand when requested or necessary.

Additional Improvements and Bug Fixes

Improved reminder delivery timing and scheduled-time reporting.

Added clearer Workshop upload guidance for avatars, skills, and personalities.

Update will be live on the Compact Branches and other Web Platforms shortly.

Thanks, everyone!
