Hi, this is Gud.
I realized I hadn't made any post to talk about the vn's progress. So here we are: yes, I am adapting a book into a visual novel. So unexpected. I don't have much more to say.
I first discovered this book through a video by a YouTuber I like, and I decided to give it a shot. As I kept reading, I found myself thinking "It'd be funny if this were a VN..." And then it hit me: I actually know how to make a vn. So I got in touch with the author to talk about it, and she agreed. And that's how we got here. I do have a small original script of my own that I'd like to turn into a vn someday, but for now, you'd get this collab, which I'm pouring as much heart into. :p
Just so you know, I didn't simply copy the original text and paste it into an .rpy script. I've adapted certain scenes, changed a few things I wasn't particularly fond of, and added some new content as well. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, EVERY SINGLE CHANGE was approved by the author herself!
So please don't come at me if you end up reading the original book and then tell me, "HeY, tHaT's NoT hOw It HaPpEnEd In ThE bOoK!!!" Unlike adaptations of novels written by dead authors and can't give their consent, I made sure that everything I changed was approved by the original author. Yea. :)
As of writing this post, the script is finished. All that's left is waiting for the assets, the English translation (because this time I actually have a translator, it's not me doing it, AIN'T NO WAY I'M SPENDING THE TIME TRANSLATING THE WHOLE THING LOL), and of course, I still have to code everything.
So... expect for a release around October...? I'd like that.
In the meantime, check out the teaser I uploaded on YouTube and the Steam page ^^
Thank you for following the development of Scarlet Beret!
