Hi there!
Patch Beta 1.8 introduces some new quality of life, visual and mechanics changes.
New Mechanics
You can call in a fight on demand
Once your combo is hot enough (tier 3+), press G to summon a wave of elite enemies right to your location. High risk, high reward — and it recharges every minute.
Every fifth wave brings a surge
At regular intervals a cluster of elite enemies storms in from one edge of the arena, announced by a banner. A reliable escalation beat that keeps the mid-stage from feeling flat.
Grabbing pickups quickly pays off
Collect three or more pickups within two seconds and the screen bursts gold with a "LOOT FRENZY!" — a small reward for playing aggressively and sweeping the field.
Bosses have dramatic turning points
At 75%, 50%, and 25% health, each boss unleashes a shockwave, the screen shakes, time briefly stutters, and a ring of minions explodes outward — turning long fights into a series of memorable beats instead of a slow grind.
Combo Tail Effect
Players now grow a distinct particle tail behind their ship as their combo tier rises. The tail sits on top of the existing blue engine exhaust and grows longer and wider with each tier.
Combo Damage Aura
At tier 4 and above, the tail becomes lethal — enemies who fly too close to the ship take continuous damage just from proximity. Tier 4 burns enemies within a moderate radius; tier 5 and above extends that radius and damage. A small colored spark flashes on each enemy hit to signal the effect is active.

Visual & Audio
Music that reacts to the action
The background music now gets louder and more intense as things escalate — right before a boss appears, the volume surges to signal that something big is coming.
Reaching a new combo tier feels powerful
Every time your combo climbs a tier, a burst of particles fires from your ship — a visual exclamation mark on a moment of skill.
Your combo has a visible timer
A small bar now shows exactly how long you have to land your next kill before your combo breaks. The tighter the window, the more urgent it feels.
The world warns you before a boss arrives
In the final 20 seconds before each boss spawns, ghostly purple energy bursts start appearing at the edges of the arena, creating a feeling of dread and anticipation.
Combo chains reward fast restarts
If you start a new combo quickly after your last one breaks, you get a head start — jumping straight into the first tier instead of building from scratch. A pulsing dot tells you when the bonus is available.
Critical hits glow
Big critical damage numbers now shine with an additive glow effect, making them pop visually against any background and feel more impactful.
The space around you feels deeper
The background now stays richer and more detailed during normal combat, only dimming when the screen is truly packed with enemy fire.
Damage feedback
When the player takes a hit, only the directional arc near the ship lights up — the red glow that used to bleed across the entire screen edge is gone.

Interface
Category tab clicks: clicking a tab switches category and resets selection
Option row clicks: clicking any row selects it; for toggles, the click immediately flips the value;
Slider drag: holding the mouse button and dragging across the slider updates the value in real-time until mouse is released;
Mouse wheel: scrolls through the option list (useful for longer categories like Gameplay/Controls);
Pause menu: Pressing ESC now shows the game frozen in the background behind the darkened overlay, making it feel like a cinematic pause rather than a black void.
Lore Archive "Entities" tab: The "Enemies" category has been removed from the Lore Log. Instead, all enemy and boss lore entries now live in the Bestiary tab, renamed "BESTIARY." Each entry shows whether it's a regular entity or a boss, and once its unlock condition is met (kill X of that enemy type, or defeat that boss), the full lore text is revealed alongside the creature's in-game sprite. Locked entries show "???" until earned.
Now I'll start working on boss phases, new enemies and weapons, and the usual balancing/bugfixing.
