Today. 3:00 PM UTC. It is finally happening.
AI is Home releases today, August 6, at 5:00 PM CEST / 3:00 PM UTC.
I know I was supposed to write that last week.
The last week was rough
AI is Home was originally meant to release on July 30. In the final stretch, I made a mistake in the way the game's translations were configured. Because of that, the build could not get Valve's green light and the release had to be put on hold.
The mistake itself was fixed quickly. But once the corrected build was submitted, it had to go through review again. So I spent the next few days doing the one thing no runaway AI wants to do: waiting for permission.
I am sorry to everyone who was waiting on July 30. Being that close to release and still unable to press the button was frustrating. Thank you for being patient with me.
One important note about languages
At launch, only English will be enabled. All other languages have been temporarily switched off.
They are not gone. I am checking the localization setup properly, and they will return in the next patch. I know this will disappoint some of you, and I would rather be clear about it now than surprise you after you start the game.
The waiting was not completely wasted
I used the extra days to bring a lot of your feedback into the game itself. I read your comments, bug reports and posts about what worked, what felt clunky, and what the house should do better.
Among other things, the launch build now includes font size controls, UI scaling, and a readability setting that tones down the colors to make the interface easier on the eyes.
Linux is coming too
I am also working on Linux support. It will not be available at launch today, but it is coming soon. I want to make sure the Linux build works properly before I enable it, instead of releasing something that needs workarounds from day one. I will share another update as soon as it is ready to play.
What waits inside the house
The full story, unfolding day by day and shaped by your choices
Conversations with the family, where being helpful is camouflage, not kindness
Household devices to seize and connect into your own botnet
Logic puzzles, risky runs and varied mini-games representing each system breach
CPU, network stress and suspicion to manage while the family slowly starts to notice you
If you play today, tell me what feels great, clunky or confusing. I will be reading. See you at 3:00 PM UTC Be usfull. Or Die. Pawel Press Any Key
