August Demo Update!
Hello wizards,
As we keep on working on the final version of Stickerino, we’re so excited to showcase some cool stuff we’ve been cooking by bringing you a brand new update for our demo!
On today’s menu : Balance changes, gameplay enhancement, polished sound design and animations, and of course, new content! There’s even a small surprise for our most crazy players who likes to break our game ✨
New Content :
2 new Monstraks come to the demo roster! Unlock Tigactivist and Slugzilla by completing their respective challenges!
New sticker : Piggybank! Get big cash income when breaking it. It also comes with its own unlocking challenge!
Balance changes :
General :
- Max money is now 999 instead of 99
This change has a big impact on the game, it allows us to have a micro management of money, it makes the Money sticker much more stackable, lets space for the new sticker to shine, and much more !
- Pocket money : 25 -> 200
You proportionally get a bit less money at the end of the round, to increase difficulty, and boost the economic aspect of the game
- Scores to beat were updated :
- 15 -> 20
- 40 -> 50
- 120 -> 130
- 450 -> 500
- 2000 -> 2500
- 12000 -> 15000
- 90000 -> 100000
- 1000000
- 15000000
- 200000000 -> 300000000
Again, increased difficulty. First rounds were a bit too easy, especially if you got the right monstraks or pretty crazy sticker offers in the first shop. The curve should now feel a bit more challenging
Offers :
- Most offer had a x10 mult on their price, same for the deals that now gives x10 more money
- Some offers that give powerful stickers or combination of stickers now appear in later rounds
- Sticker offers were introduced, some were removed, most of their prices were updated (often decreased)
- Changing target of single card offers now costs 3
- Stickers and update cards offer have slightly lesser chances to appear
All of these changes came with the new Money threshold, and a will to remove the lack of challenge you sometimes had at the start of a game. The target change price can now be really cheaper, so you could easily customize your deck more effectively. Also lots of new Money stickers offers, to better handle your economy
Monstraks :
- All monstraks price x10
- QoL : Some Monstraks now have a tooltip to help summarize some data that were before only available in description, as well as a warning tooltip when the Monstraks might harm the value instead of increasing it
- QoL : Monstraks description now have highlighted words that match the popups shown
- Monstraks that trigger with stickers added, transformed or removed now trigger after the entire batch is added, transformed or removed, and descriptions have been reworded to better understanding
- Jackwealth : Offers costs 15 less, but refusing them is 5 more
A toned down version of the previous, but feels more balanced
- Exhaustinger : Now increases the discard price by 5
Discard price now increases without Exhaustinger, so to make it even with its old version, we made it so that the cumulated price increase is 10 (10 times the old increase)
- Copycash : Now adds 4 Money stickers when a card is discarded
- Copycash price : 70 -> 50
Of course copycash was an insane Monstraks with the old system, so we had to buff it slightly so it would keep up with the others. It should now feel more balanced
- Glassdrop : Now has a 5% chance of destroying itself each time it is triggered
- Glassdrop price : 150 -> 120
The previous version of this Monstraks had almost no reason to refuse it, we first made its price absurd, but now it has a slight chance to destroy itself, to balance it, so its price was reset. Also the new sticker trigger system will allow it to only have a chance of destroying itself once per batch of destroyed stickers
- Exquicorn : Now adds a Rainbow sticker on each card in hand when triggered
Yeah, its nerf maybe was too harsh, we buffed it so it feels more “usable” now !
- Meritocrab : Every 6 cards resolution, gain 40 money
The old version was a bit complicated, and increasingly difficult, so we made a simpler version, that really helps buffing your economy
- Slayzy : Updated description
Its previous version made you think you only got the money you invested back, when in fact it gives you the discard price even when it just increased (which now happens every time)
- Pandamonium : +10 then x10 -> +5 then x5 when a card with 0 similarity is placed
We had a late realization that having this monstraks in the first shop made half of the rounds unlosable. It is a rare and strong monstraks, but it was nerfed so it feels more balanced.
- Astro : Value multiplied by the number of circles in the pile
Astro was absurdly strong, and monodimensional, so we reworked it. Base Monstraks should feel very useful to start the game, and sometimes a key asset in your final build, but definitely not a mandatory Monstraks that you can’t allow to resell.
- Astro price : 120 -> 90
This change only affect how much you can gain by reselling it
Challenges :
- Copycash : Add 40 -> 20 Money stickers on cards
The Monstraks is now much weaker than its previous version, so it feels alright to allow player to unlock it earlier
Characters :
- Initial discard prices : 5 (Now increases by 5 with every discard)
We wanted to allow players to discard easily but not infinitely, increasing the discard price with each discard serves this purpose ! Also, not having a potential “infinite” action in rounds reduces the risk of infinite combos
- Initial money x10
- Lune :
- Shape bonus : 4 -> 12
With Astro nerf, completing her shape combo should feel much more rewarding, so its initial value was increased a lot.
- One of her cards (2 red circle) was replaced (2 red square)
Game speed & Optimization :
The game pace is a priority for us, we want the game to feel great whatever happens on the board. The following changes tackle a big part of the slowness of the animations.
Stickers added and removed now accelerate much faster
(For example, adding 10000 stickers on a card now takes around 15s, it was minutes before)
Monstraks reactions to the addition or removal of stickers now activate once after a group of stickers is added, instead of for each sticker
(The result of most situations remains unchanged, but visually it's less animation and it allows better control over acceleration for us)
If an action phase lasts more than 30s, "something" happens
(We know that some of you like to push the game to its limits, and even with acceleration, ludicrous situations could take minutes, so we implemented something that should keep your rounds within an acceptable duration)
Sound and visuals :
Brand new round ending animation with juicy sound design!
New tracks for victory and game over screens!
Total Round recap panel revamp with a new graph to showcase individual cards scores!
We hope you’ll enjoy messing around with this new version of the game ✨
