Hello, tavern keepers!
In July, we held the first Tavern Keeper Design Challenge with the members of the Greenheart Creator Club. The challenge was to create a piece of standalone decoration furniture that felt at home in the Riverbottom Tavern using Tavern Keeper’s Item Workshop and spending up to 100 gold.
And the winners are… 🥁 *drumroll* 🥁
Messy-Mossy Shelf, by SewAppalling
Starting the winners’ list is this lovely shelf with seemingly no straight lines at all. The Messy-Mossy Shelf by SewAppalling captured our attention with its quirky design that fits perfectly with Tavern Keeper’s art style and we loved all the little details on the shelf. It comes in at 86 gold pieces.
Fairie Door, by Aleaty
This small but mighty custom decoration adds a little mysterious vine-twisted fairy door to your tavern, complete with a mini-torch and some magical particle effects. Coming in at exactly 100 gold and 39 pieces, our team loved this clever idea from creator Aleaty.
Battle for the Swamp, by TheDuoDesign
The final winner is a custom painting assembled from 11 pieces and titled “Battle for the Swamp” from TheDuoDesign - we loved the use of simple shapes to tell a fun story for the swamp region. At 11 gold it’s also a very affordable decoration that surely adds a bit of flair to any swamp tavern.
Congratulations! 🎉
These designs will be added soon to the game on a stage located in the Item Workshop, and you will be able to unlock these decorations in the Demo after reaching your first tavern star!
We thank everyone who participated and submitted entries. The creativity shown was truly inspiring! 💚
Item Workshop coming soon
We have a big Tavern Keeper 🍻 announcement coming up next week, as part of gamescom 2024. Stay tuned!
Also, from August 21st to the 25th, we will update the Demo and unlock the Item Workshop for everyone to try!
The Item Workshop is a separate level that allows you to focus on creating your own designs and decorations, with near unlimited gold and no tavern-keeping duties. The level consists of a small tavern surrounded by tons of available design pieces. This makes using the clone tool in this level particularly useful as you can just look around and grab pieces from the floor rather than searching for them in the Design menu. The level also comes with example designs from both our team and our creator community.
Sounds exciting? Keep an eye out for a new Design Challenge coming next week to have your creation showcased in Tavern Keeper!

A small disclaimer: This preview build of the Item Workshop lacks voice-overs as well as translations - we are still working on those!
Cheers,
The Greenheart Games 💚 Team
