Hello! Welcome to the July edition of the Synth Signal - An update and news roundup column about the shmup SynthEscape.
Dev Update
Note: Game Development is a tricky and iterative process. Changes will occur.
Summer months are rolling around, and progress is a little bit slower than I'd like due to life events (vacation and job searching respectively.) But the game is progressing along.
Level 1: Last Light City - 5% done
Only a few assets created. This will be the final level I'll work on.
Level 2: Sunset Speedway - 95% complete!
Play it now via the free demo!
Level 3: Ghost in the Machine - 90% complete.
Playable start to finish, though a bit buggy in some areas.
Level 4: The Burning Climb - 20% complete
Some assets created. Small sections involving the main mechanic playable.
Level 5: SynthEscape - 10% complete
Minimal assets created.
I do have new material for you all, footage of the Sentinel boss that'll serve as the level 3 midpoint. After Sunset Speedway, you are forced to move deep into an underground facility that appears to be forgotten to time. What secrets await?
Check it out here!
Festivals
SynthEscape has been accepted into Steam's Cyberpunk Festival (Aug 3rd) and Couch Co-Op fest (Feb 7th). Be sure to check it out and share!
Music Tracks
If you missed it, I have uploaded a few of the custom music tracks to YouTube. Give them a listen!
Signals and Static (plays during the credits)
Boot Sequence (Tutorial)
Last Light (Level One)
In-Person Event
Thanks so much to Potions and Pixels for hosting game developer meetups in Charlotte, NC! If you live nearby and would like to check it out and say hi, these will be once a month for the foreseeable future (and I will attempt to make as many as I can).
That's all for now! Thanks from us at RabidTomatoGames.
