Another week of development on Elegon is complete, with a big focus on making creatures smarter, improving combat, and adding more ways to explore other characters across the realm.
Smarter Creatures & Improved Combat
Creatures have received a major overhaul this week.
Enemy pathfinding has been rebuilt, allowing creatures to properly navigate around obstacles while chasing players. Line-of-sight validation has also been added for targeted abilities, with some additional adjustments to make the system feel more forgiving during normal gameplay.
Enemies can now use actual abilities rather than simply applying damage directly to the player. To go alongside this, each class now has its own interrupt ability, giving you a way to stop dangerous enemy casts.
A new combat log tab has also been added to the chat panel, making it easier to keep track of what's happening during combat.
Introducing the Archive
The new Archive panel is now available.
You can search for any character on your realm and view information about them, including their equipped gear and stats.
The Archive can be opened using the new default R keybind.
World & Map Improvements
Amberwood has received another environmental update with three new lakes added to the zone.
The world map has also had several usability improvements:
Maximum zoom-out distance has been doubled.
The default map zoom now shows a larger area.
Your map zoom and panning position are preserved during your gameplay session.
Steep terrain between Duskmire and Cinder Ridge has been corrected.
UI & Fixes
A new interface element at the top of the screen now displays important gameplay errors and warnings.
There were also several smaller fixes and improvements this week, including:
Fixed incorrect character equipment item level calculations.
Fixed creatures occasionally appearing to float above the ground.
Improved target frames so friendly targets use green health bars while hostile and passive targets use red.
There's plenty more on the way, and development continues each week. Thanks as always for following the project and helping shape Elegon!
