RustForge Patch Notes: v3.1.6.9
"The Timing Engine & Refactor Update"
Transmission from RustForge 🎙️
The core engine has been stripped and rebuilt. To achieve the speeds we wanted, I had to rewrite a good chunk of all 3 painting methods. The Voidweave algorithm has been completely rewritten from the ground up for superior accuracy and speed. We are also tightening the bolts on session management and ultra-wide support. RustForge is now faster, leaner, and more precise than ever!
Patch Highlights
Voidweave 2.0: A complete rewrite for better color blending and increased speed. (NOW FREE!)
Increased Performance: Migrated to high-performance pixel reading and custom Precision Timing System for massive speed gains.
Ultra-Wide Support: Fixed aspect ratio bugs that caused unpainted specks.
Steam Screenshots: Capture your masterpieces directly through RustForge.
Balancing & Logic
Painting Engine
High-Performance Pixel Reading: Now utilizes Custom pixel scanning blocks to bypass standard managed image processing.
Voidweave Overhaul: Refactored for higher accuracy and, noticeable boost in painting speed. (NOW FREE!)
Behind the change: The algorithm now correctly paints with new method of scanning ahead of the cursor. Note: Due to this "look-ahead" logic, Resume on Click is currently incompatible with Voidweave.
Gameplay & Features
Session Management
Fixed Session Save and Session Resume functionality.
The Goal: To ensure players can safely stop and start large-scale projects without losing progress.
Resume On Click Overlay (F5)
Added a new, slightly transparent source-image overlay when using the Resume On Click feature.
Why?: This makes it much easier to align your cursor and fine-tune exactly where you want to pick up your painting.
Steam Integration
Added native Steam Screenshot functionality. Share your work in the RF Steam community!
Fixes & Refactors
Technical Fixes
Ultra-Wide Fix: Resolved an issue where ultrawide monitors and non-standard aspect ratios would leave unpainted specks at the end of rows.
Edge Protection: Fixed the math behind edge protection methods to eliminate "speckling" in high-contrast areas.
Timelapse Bug: Fixed the overlay display bug in the timelapse preview window.
Refactoring Notice
Resume on Click: This feature has been temporarily disabled while the logic is refactored to match the new engine.
The Intent: The new engine rewrite changed how painting data is handled. While Session Save/Load works perfectly, Resume on Click requires a bit more time in the furnace to ensure it works accurately with the new pixel-reading methods.
Known Issues
A notification box will appear if you attempt to use Resume on Click with the Voidweave Algorithm, as the two are currently incompatible due to the algorithm's predictive scanning.
