Greetings Merchants!
Today, I am releasing the first content update for Medieval Merchant.
The reputation system has been expanded, and level 3 is now unlocked, letting you meaningfully shape your relationships with towns. The update also adds two new hireable companions and includes several quality-of-life improvements.
Good luck! May your roads be safe and your purses heavy!
Patch Notes
New Content
Unlocked Level 3 - Of Friends and Foes: Select towns from one region as your ally and attempt to get the 3 remaining regions onto your side.
New Companion - Diplomat: Helps you manage relationships with your trade partners.
New Companion - Architect: Helps with upgrading production buildings.
Haggling: You can now negotiate prices with towns. Decide how aggressively you want to drive prices, but beware: Driving up costs too much, lowers a town's reputation.
Quality of Life Improvements
Map Overlays: Use [Tab] or [F1]-[F3] to switch between map layers. This will help you find active missions more easily and see which regions offer which goods.
Global Surplus: Towns now grow tired of getting sold the same old stuff, over and over. You will have to become more creative in your trade routes. Running in circles is no longer going to cut it.
Local Disinterest: Towns are now less interested in goods that are globally abundant. This should incentivize you to sell more varied goods and pay more attention to how prices develop over time.
You can now use the left mouse button to drag the camera (middle mouse button still works)
Added audio and visual cues to show when the game is paused.
Interface
New menu pages for game credits and audio settings
Bug Fixes
The thief now only steals gold once every few days when entering a town.
