The development of Life of Cockroach keeps moving forward consistently! Also, most of the progress is being reflected in the free public demo so players can try it out and share their feedback.
The update that dropped today for the demo brings, among other things, full native controller support. You can finally control the cockroach with your controller on PC and perform every single action you could previously do with the keyboard and mouse. The control layout is automatically detected based on the input received, so you can quickly switch between the controller layout and the keyboard and mouse layout. You decide how to play at any given moment!
With controller support, we’ve also added improvements to the user interface to display new icons for both controller and keyboard, along with quality-of-life improvements when navigating the different menus and talking to NPCs.
Now there's no excuse not to dive into this adventure and start a new life as a cockroach—whether from the comfort of your couch using your controller or with your keyboard and mouse. But remember: Real cockroaches use a gamepad!
The list of main changes added to the demo with this 0.3.1 update includes:
Native support for PC controllers.
New keyboard and controller icons.
New alert panels with icons.
User interface tweaks to improve visibility on 4:3 and ultrawide resolutions.
Other user interface improvements and tweaks.
New human NPCs added to the city.
More dirt added to outdoor areas.
Adjustments to the positioning of some insect NPCs.
Minor adjustments to the hunger system.
Adjustments and corrections to some text and dialogues.
Thank you for playing the demo. Don’t forget to add the game to your Steam wishlist and follow the cockroach on social media. Remember that you can share your feedback using the form found in the game’s main menu.
