Hello Researchers!
Multiplayer is finally here! It’s time to challenge your friends to a strategic battle of wits in a new Free For All mode. Choose any species you like — the goal remains the same: survive and collect the most shards.
This update also addresses several player-requested fixes, including improved health feedback, clearer unit identification, and optimized depth sorting.
Multiplayer Free For All
Prove your dominance against real opponents. With no restrictions on species selection, your match can transform into an "Alpha Predator" challenge or a massive swarm battle. The choice, as usual, is yours.
Health Feedback
Based on feedback, I've overhauled how creature health is displayed. All creatures now show visible damage as they lose HP, giving you immediate insight into the status of your pack — and your rivals.
Unit Identification
To help you keep track of the chaos, a distinct outline for player-controlled creatures is added. You’ll never lose track of your own species in the heat of battle again.
Depth Issues
I have also refined a depth calculation and export pipeline for creatures. They now have a fixed "ground point", ensuring the sprites are layered correctly even in large-scale battles. But most importantly, this system paves the way for future aquatic species and burrowing mechanics!
WHAT'S NEXT FOR GENETICA?
With all major pillars now in place, Genetica is moving toward Early Access. This upcoming stage will introduce new species, enhanced AI, and revamped reproduction systems. Please note that once we hit Early Access, the Demo version will no longer receive active updates.
Stay tuned for future updates!
