Talescape v0.22.0 has been released.
Dialogues can now be previewed while they are being edited. This applies to normal, chat, phone-call and terminal dialogues. Lines and options can be selected, navigated and created from the preview, while unsaved changes use explicit save and discard handling.
Dialogue paths now distinguish between manual choices and automatic branches, with separate ordering for each type. Automatic branches do not require player-facing text. Speakerless lines are treated as narration, portrait scaling has a wider range, and dialogues can be rendered either above the complete scene or below its foreground.
Chapters can now have an optional hub scene in addition to their start scene. Scenes can also include foreground images, be moved between chapters and import lighting and atmosphere settings from another scene. Scene elements can be duplicated in place or copied to another scene.
Media files can be replaced without creating a new media entry or breaking existing uses. Metadata and generated image variants are refreshed, with moderation and audio transcription repeated where applicable.
Event editing now includes separately ordered fallback actions for cases where event conditions are not met. Event counts and direct controls are available on scenes, elements, dialogues, lines and options.
The story-check page has been reorganized so the complete check set can run as one batch. The credits editor also includes a player-style preview using the configured theme, fonts, UI scale, background, Markdown content and asset-pack attribution.
The release also fixes issues affecting dialogue translations, narration, portrait rendering, scene previews, scene-element dimensions, interaction markers, transitions, shared ambience, validation and debug-menu controls.
On a separate note, **Journey Without Return** is nearing release and will be the first **Talescape Short**. New asset packs have also been completed and will be published soon.
