I want to change the Call Sign I'm using!
You can set your Call Sign the first time you launch the game. During the first Steam playtest period, your Call Sign cannot be changed once it has been set.
Please explain the controls.
You can check the controls under ESC (Gamepad: ☰) > Settings > Keyboard & Mouse or Controller.
What can I do during the first Steam playtest period?
You can customize your character, change and upgrade weapons, equip runes, select Heavenstone skills, and take on operations. You can also unlock locked weapons, Heavenstones, customization options, and operations.
I want to do the tutorial again.
At the Headquarters, press the ESC key (Gamepad: ☰) and select Replay Tutorial.
How can I play the game with a friend?
Try using the Private Operation feature.
- First, create a Private Operation and share the code with your friend.
- Your friend can then click Join Private Operation and enter the code.
※ In-game chat is not currently supported, so please use Discord or a similar service to share the code.
Is there a chat/voice communication feature in the game?
Try using the in-game voice chat feature. You can also communicate quickly using emotes.

Can I use PlayStation controllers such as the DualSense?
You can play using both Xbox controllers and the DualSense controller.
How can I join the first Steam playtest?
You can join the first Steam playtest by clicking the Playtest button on the Evilbane Steam store page. Please note that it may take some time for your request to be approved after you sign up.
What is the maximum number of people that can play together?
Up to 4 players can play an operation together! If an operation is too difficult, find allies to join you!
Sometimes Lock Target doesn't work!
Press the Lock Target key (Tab / RS button) to lock on to boss monsters (mid-bosses and main bosses) and keep the camera fixed on them.
If you switch to a ranged weapon while locked on, the lock is released automatically. Conversely, if you use Lock Target while using a ranged weapon, you will automatically switch to a melee weapon.
Why does the monster's body emit a blue light?
The blue glow indicates that a QTE is available. Press the key at that moment to perform a special action, with various effects such as dealing heavy damage to enemies or reloading quickly.
Jump/Roll isn't working!
The green bar below the HP bar represents Stamina. If you run out of Stamina, you won't be able to sprint, jump, or roll, so keep an eye on it.
I started an operation with other players, but it's taking too long for the game to actually begin.
The start of the operation may be slightly delayed depending on the connection stability of the player hosting it, so please wait a moment.
I thought I dodged it, but I got hit by the attack!
Even with perfect timing, some attacks cannot be dodged, so try to move completely out of the attack range.
Where do I start an operation?
You can select the operation you want to take on at the round table inside the Headquarters.
How do I join an operation?
There are several ways to join an operation.
- Click Quick Play to join any operation
- Create the operation you want to play and start it
- Enter a Private Operation code to join
I can only see six operations.
Operations are divided by difficulty. Press the Q / E keys (Gamepad: LB / RB) to change the difficulty, then select the operation you want.
How do I get the materials to unlock weapons, customization options, and Heavenstones?
During an operation, you can earn gold by collecting the orange glowing items on the ground or by defeating enemies. You can also obtain materials to unlock Heavenstones by clearing Side Missions marked with blue markers.
If you do not clear the operation, you will lose all the materials and gold you collected during it, so make clearing it your goal!
What are the red and blue markers that appear when I enter an operation?
Red markers are Main Missions you must complete to clear the operation. Blue markers are Side Missions that reward you with recovery items, buffs that apply during the operation, materials to unlock Heavenstones, and more.
I can no longer use the Scattershot Bow / Crossbow.
You can restore Magic Ammo by picking up the Magic Ammo Pouches (pouches holding blue crystals) lying on the ground during an operation. This refills your Magic Ammo magazine, so if your current magazine is empty, be sure to reload.
I can no longer use the Magic Orb.
The Magic Orb does not consume Magic Ammo; instead, it attacks using the mana stored within the orb itself. Once all of that mana is used up, it needs time to recharge, so keep that in mind.
The operation is locked.
Some operations can only be played after you complete other operations first. Click the locked operation to check which operation you need to complete beforehand.
I just want to join any operation.
Press the R key (Gamepad: ☰) on the operation selection screen and an operation you can join right away at the selected difficulty will be created. If there is no operation available to join, a random operation you can enter at the same difficulty will be created.
I can't use the Heavenstone I want.
Each Heavenstone has its own Required Cost. The total cost you can equip is capped at 10, and you cannot build a setup that exceeds it, so check the number next to each Heavenstone.
Can I recover Heavenstone uses after reaching the Max Uses limit?
Once you reach the Max Uses of your Heavenstone during an operation, you cannot use Heavenstones again for the rest of that operation!
How do I use weapon skills?
You can use weapon skills by attacking enemies to charge your skill gauge, as follows:
- Successfully hit an enemy with a basic weapon attack
- Pick up the SP Orbs dropped when you defeat enemies, perform a Weakness Break, or land a Melee Weapon Heavy Attack
The orbs dropped when you defeat enemies or perform a Weakness Break are as follows:
Red: Restores HP
Blue: Charges the skill gauge
Light blue: Restores Magic Ammo and mana
Sometimes an enemy's eyes turn red. What does that mean?
When an enemy's eyes turn red, it means it is about to unleash a powerful attack. It is charging up, so it will not flinch no matter what attacks you land — if you don't think you can take it down right away, dodge!
How can I get the Magic Orb?
Take part in the Challenge Event running during the first Steam playtest period.
Participate in the Challenge Event for 2 days to receive 'Mana Crystal' as a reward, which unlocks the Magic Orb.
I used Quick Play and joined in the middle of an operation.
If another player is already playing an operation that is available to you, you can join that operation in progress and play through it together. Some Hard operations cannot be joined while in progress.
What can I do at the Headquarters?
Rodrik: Upgrades weapons and equips/replaces runes
Lillian: Unlocks and swaps Heavenstones

How do I change my Heavenstone?
You can change your Heavenstone by speaking to Lillian at the Headquarters, who handles Heavenstone swaps and unlocks. If you enter an operation before changing it, press the H key (Gamepad: X) while waiting in the operation lobby to change your Heavenstone.
How do I change my weapon or customization?
To change the weapon you are using or your customization, use the equipment display stand next to Rodrik.
How do I upgrade my weapon?
You can upgrade your weapon by giving Rodrik, who handles weapon upgrades at the Headquarters, the required gold and materials (Heavenstone Powder / Fragment / Essence).
How do I engrave a rune on my weapon?
Rodrik can also help you engrave runes on your weapons. Talk to Rodrik and press the E key (Gamepad: RB) to try rune engraving.
※ Rune engraving is only available when the weapon's upgrade level is +3 or higher. (+3, +6, +10)
- Press the E key (Gamepad: RB)
- Select an available rune slot
- Select the rune you want to engrave
⚠️ Once a rune has been engraved, removing or replacing it requires separate materials, so choose carefully.
How can I unlock locked weapons, customization options, and Heavenstones?
To use some weapons, customization options, and Heavenstones, your account must reach a certain level, or you must spend specific materials to unlock them. (In some cases, both are required.)

How do I become the host of an operation?
Among the players in the same operation, the one who can provide the most stable environment becomes the host.
Joining an operation first does not make you the host.
What are runes?
Runes are items that raise the power of your equipment even further, and Rodrik helps you engrave them. Rune engraving requires a weapon upgraded to at least +3, and the number of runes you can engrave depends on the weapon's upgrade level.
How do I change my key bindings?
Press the ESC key (Gamepad: ☰) to open the menu and go to Settings. In the Keyboard & Mouse tab, you can change the assigned keys. Please note that some keys, such as movement, are locked and cannot be changed.
The game screen glitches when I receive notifications from messenger apps or similar programs.
This issue may occur when the game is running in Fullscreen mode. Please go to Settings > Graphics > Display Mode and select Borderless Windowed, then try playing the game again.

The game suddenly closed.

A FATAL ERROR has occurred!
A FATAL ERROR can have various causes.
If you experience performance issues, stuttering, or crashes during play, we recommend switching to DX11.
How to change: Launch the game > Settings menu > Graphics > DirectX > set to DX11
You can also try updating your graphics card driver, or check whether your PC meets the specifications required to run Evilbane.

Conflicts with programs running outside the game can also cause this. Try closing those programs and then launching the game.
