A completely independent report by an anonymous representative of the Seagulls Syndicate.
Filed from a completely unrelated rooftop with an unusually good view of the Rocket Post warehouse.

The Seagulls Syndicate cannot guarantee that your package will arrive on time, but we can guarantee further reports from Cranelock.
Cranelock has always looked like a peaceful place. The sun shines, the streets stay clean, and the locals spend their days carrying an impressive number of branded parcels from one end of the city to another. Yet beneath that postcard surface, a delivery war is developing - one involving corporate pressure, suspicious packages, malfunctioning robots, compromised advertising infrastructure, and at least one man conducting personal diplomacy with a vending machine.
An anonymous representative of the independent Seagulls Syndicate has been following the situation closely: independently, anonymously, and with absolutely no connection to the suspicious figure occasionally seen using binoculars on the roof of the building opposite Rocket Post. Any resemblance is coincidence. The binoculars are for birdwatching. The notebook is also for birdwatching.
Early testimony from Timothy Paul: Quick Box does not play nicely with rivals - and apparently buys useful stock before anyone else can.
For years, the local market belonged to Quick Box. Then Rocket Post opened its doors. Timothy Paul, a familiar face around Cranelock, offered an unusually concise market forecast: Quick Box did not play nice with rivals, and the previous owner "didn't last." Another resident, Jacob Smith, seemed less concerned and more professionally intrigued by a new business opening directly under the incumbent's nose.
Jacob Smith recognizes an interesting business venture. His expression suggests that "interesting" is doing considerable work.
We will not make direct accusations. Our legal department currently consists of one seagull standing on a folder, and even he has advised caution.
Quick Box's presence was difficult to miss. Branded shopping bags moved through the festival crowds, advertising dominated the skyline, and automated couriers marched through the streets like tiny corporate ambassadors. The bags, at least, appeared dependable.
A Quick Box bag in the wild. Cranelock residents have become unpaid mobile advertising with excellent posture.
The robots were another matter. One courier was observed suffering what technical experts might call a catastrophic loss of dignity. It staggered, sparked, and distributed its cargo directly onto the pavement, including a plunger - a bold interpretation of last-mile delivery. The customer beside it studied the wreckage, raised her phone, and adopted the calm expression of someone about to make customer support regret picking up.
A Quick Box courier completes the rarely requested "scatter everything, then spark" service. The customer begins a call that will probably be used for training purposes.
We cannot confirm whom she called, but somewhere in Cranelock a performance review was almost certainly becoming more eventful.
At first, the robot’s public loss of dignity looked like little more than an embarrassing afternoon for Quick Box. Rocket Post could observe from a comfortable distance, continue serving customers, and enjoy the rare luxury of a competitor creating its own problems.
That comfortable distance did not last.
Back at the Rocket Post warehouse, the opening days had been busy but manageable. The shelves were filling, parcels were moving, and every package appeared to be exactly where it belonged, except for one.
Among the ordinary brown boxes sat a blue Quick Box package that nobody at Rocket Post remembered accepting.
The blue box waits among innocent cardboard. It is either a parcel or the least subtle Chekhov's gun in Cranelock.
It looked harmless: rectangular, neatly sealed, and positioned with the innocent confidence of a package that had every right to be there. There was no recipient listed, nobody remembered accepting it, and the box made the entire warehouse feel approximately twelve percent less insured.
Our representative moved closer for a better look. According to the notes recovered from the rooftop, the package was definitely from Quick Box, unusually heavy, and making a faint....
[The report breaks off at this point, halfway through the sentence; the notebook was later recovered beneath an open window beside a camera and several breadcrumbs, while the correspondent was nowhere to be found and our legal department was suspiciously unwilling to discuss the crumbs.]
