Hello Library Explorers,
Update 0.0.8 has arrived, bringing some of the most profound changes to the technology and gameplay of The First Library to date. We have polished the entire architecture behind the scenes and optimized key systems such as networking, scene management, and world generation.
Here is everything you need to know:
🌍 A New World & Technical Upgrade
We have updated Unity to the latest version of Unity 6 (6000.2.7f2) and brought the Unity Multiplayer Services up to date.
Static Terrain Map: The game world is now based on a fixed terrain foundation. This allows for much more intentional level design, while vegetation and resources continue to be distributed organically and procedurally.
Correct Resource Distribution: A vital gameplay fix: All resources (such as wood, stones, and collectables) now spawn reliably at the correct positions in the world again.
Synchronous Scene Management: World loading has been completely overhauled. All players now land reliably and simultaneously in the correct scene, as the network integration for this has been fundamentally corrected.
💨 Movement & Combat: Dashing
Combat now feels significantly more dynamic! With the new Dashing system, you can dodge attacks or bridge distances in a flash.
Controls: Press [C] or [CTRL] along with a directional key (WASD) to perform a dash.
⚔️ AI: Enemies Call for Help
Careless approaches will now be punished. Enemies no longer act as isolated units:
Help Calls: If an enemy spots you or gets into trouble, they will now loudly call for reinforcements. Nearby foes will be alerted and actively join the fight.
Improved Tracking: The AI now pursues you more consistently and is harder to shake off.
🖥️ UI, Controller & Language
Optimized UI Scaling: The interface has been adjusted for all screen sizes. Nothing is cut off at the edges or displayed distorted anymore – full support from 1080p to Ultrawide monitors.
German & English: The game is now officially bilingual! You can switch between German and English in the settings at any time.
Controller (Beta): We have added initial experimental support for gamepads. Feel free to test the basic character controls and give us your feedback! (Controller menu navigation will follow shortly).
⚠️ Important Information Regarding Save Files
Due to the change to the new world structure and improved save management, a Server Wipe was necessary.
World data has been reset.
Your characters and their progress remain intact!
Dominik is happy to provide keys for interested playtesters – just get in touch with us! We are excited to hear how you like the new combat dynamics.
Good luck in the wilderness, The TFL Team
