Boxcutter can be launched and played on Steam Deck, but it will not have full Steam Deck or controller support at launch.

Most of the interface can be navigated using the Steam Deck’s controls, although some menus and interactions currently require the touchscreen.

I’d like to improve controller and Steam Deck compatibility after release, particularly if it’s something the community wants to see. For now, players should expect a playable experience with some touchscreen use required. Also, icons for interacting with the world will be displaying keyboard commands.

Therefore, mouse and keyboard will provide the full Boxcutter experience and will be recommended at launch
