Welcome back to the "weekly" routine of Devblogs.
Yes, you may have noticed for the last 3 weeks or so there was no devblog. The reason for such lack of updates are related to our publisher. In the coming weeks everything will become apparent. Having said this however, the development of GoH has been uninterrupted and we have quite important announcements to make:
D day
It is the 72nd anniversary of D day. In the 6th of June 1944, the largest landing operation in history of warfare, codenamed Overlord, began.
Although it will be a very long journey until the western front is modelled in GoH, you can see a sneak peek of what is to come below. All bunkers have interactible inner passages and rooms, which can be easily managed because the roofs are made see-through as the player enters the superstructures.
Material technology
We have begun quite a large re-structuration of game resources (environment 3d models), which has been made possible due to the new material systems developed for Gem2.3. The whole process is being carried out quite confidentially, and the plans were laid on paper since Christmas. It is estimated the texture memory will be optimised by a 50% when the whole process is over. Not only this, but the actual quality and appearance of the visuals has also been given a push forward with this process.
The new changes, when complete, will be of great aid for lower-end PCs and also contribute to the performance that affects all machines.
Next week we will talk a bit about human behaviour and AI.
