Yakuza Update
Posted by: That One Guy Loki from That One Game Studio
Hey everyone just wanted to drop a little post on the latest update. Before I do though I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has played the game thus far and the feedback has been incredible. With all that feedback I have targeted some more polishing needs of the demo while I still work behind the scenes on the some full game content I'll tease at the end of this. Lets dive in to the latest changes!
Furniture Placement Enhancements
Adjusting the layout of your shop and lining everything up perfectly should now be much easier. I have added some new snapping mechanics that have floor placed furniture follow the wall making it easier to line up directly against it instead of fumbling around trying to get it precise. Along with that I have also added snapping points to most of the furniture and I'll add more in the future as well that makes lining up shelves for example a breeze.
Yakuza Changes
Another big onboarding issue has been understanding the Yakuza and his role in the game. Some players have thought he was a robber, others thought he was the landlord and someone missed him all together and just thought their store exploded... This was a big fail on my part so I have improved this with a new introduction on day 2 where the Yakuza shows up and waits in your doorway following you with his finger and floating "?" above indicating he wants you to chat. You cannot end the day until you have chatted with the Yakuza and he explains that he is collecting payment for setting up a shop in HIS neighborhood. He says he will be back every Friday to collect his money or else and now when he shows up you can wait to deal with him until you are ready instead of him interrupting at any point and causing a confusing interaction.
Quality of Life Updates
Last on the list of was a bunch of small improvements as I work on polishing the overall game.
You can now throw empty boxes and trash at the indoor trash can or the outside dumpster to dispose of instead of having to interact with it.
After watching enough videos of players randomly jumping at the cash register trying to complete a transaction I took the hint and I now capture the jump action when you are close enough and a transaction is ready to complete so players feel right at home.
You can no longer end the day until all shoppers have left to avoid confusion when they used to despawn and drop their cart of items on the floor.
New Feature Tease
In the full game I'm working towards giving you that bigger race feel by allowing you to host tournament events at your shop. These will require an upfront investment but will draw in a bigger crowd. The races are held in group stages with a final 1v1 showdown for all the glory and winnings. All the action also unfolds once the shop closes for the night so everyone gets to just sit back and enjoy the event.

Thank You
Once again I just wanted to say thank you for making my solo dev dream a reality. Seeing the reactions and feedback to the game has been so fulfilling. I know the game has a lot of potential and it still needs a lot more work but I'm so excited to see it through.
If you have not already wishlisted consider giving the game a wishlist and a follow so you can keep up with all the future development.
I'll see you in the next update!
