Update 1.0.4 brings smoother play in busy stores, the ability for hosts to pause, and fixes for checkout lines, rental returns, and Steam achievements. We've also focused on customers getting stuck around doors and tunnels and problems that show up when you load a save.
Here's what's changed since Hotfix 1.0.3.
🛒 Store & Checkout
Self-checkout no longer gets stuck when a customer leaves partway through a sale. The counter clears that transaction so the next customer can use it.
Fixed rare cases where items arriving just as scanning began, or a deposit that delivered no items, could leave a checkout line stuck.
Tourists whose visit time runs out while their items are already on the counter now finish that sale before heading home.
Fixed unpaid checkout transactions getting stuck after loading a save.
🚶 Customers & Employees
We've continued working on the places where customers and employees can get held up, especially around busy entrances, exits, and tunnel portals.
Fixed several cases where customers could become stuck just inside or outside store doors, including after loading an older save.
Shoppers who end up outside mid-trip can now find their way back in. Turning straight back through a doorway is recognized correctly, too.
Tourists can now get through crowds at tunnel portals instead of becoming trapped there when arriving or leaving.
NPCs heading to an occupied outdoor spot can choose another destination instead of waiting indefinitely.
Employees and in-store shoppers now stay on store routes while working or shopping, rather than taking the sidewalk.
Employees now respect shelf permissions and keep their display assignments while restocking.
Employees recover more reliably when an assignment or placement becomes unavailable, and give clearer feedback when they have to wait.
Idle employees now wait at their work posts instead of lingering at the spawn portal. Fixed employees occasionally timing out while trying to reach their station.
Fixed some NPC voice lines stopping unexpectedly.
💾 Save/Load, Rentals & Progression
Fixed shoppers and renters failing to resume or finish their trips correctly after loading a save.
Fixed renters getting stuck in tunnels or piling up at the return bin instead of returning their rentals.
Tapes lost to an older save bug are replaced in your Lost & Found. Recovery now also covers missing rental games and consoles, with replacements or compensation where appropriate.
Fixed an input staying held after loading some saves, which could make your character keep restocking or firing until you clicked.
Fixed spent items lingering in affected saves, with recovery for older saves that contain them.
Repo Man progress totals now carry over correctly after saving and loading, and Repo Man skips rental targets that are no longer available.
Fixed Rentnet kiosks restoring in mid-air or resuming their destruction sequence incorrectly when a save was made at just the wrong moment.
🏆 Steam Achievements
Fixed Steam achievements and stats that weren't updating during play, including progress tied to store milestones, collectibles, side hustles, and multiplayer.
Steam achievement progress no longer depends on an Epic login completing.
Handing out fliers now counts toward the flier achievements.
Finding every cameo now unlocks the all-cameos Steam achievement.
⚡ Performance, Settings & Polish
Reduced repeated work during busy gameplay, particularly around NPC activity, checkout queues, shelves, inventory, and combat.
The host can now pause the game from the Escape menu. Added host-controlled game speed options from 0.25x to 1.5x.
Improved interaction highlighting and fixed cases where using a held item could incorrectly outline your own character.
Level-up notifications now group unlocks more clearly and keep them inside the notification panel.
Restored rarity stars in the Movie Mixing interface and fixed cosmetic-vendor camera settings occasionally reverting during longer sessions.
Fixed animated store objects, including register trays, card readers, and delivery-truck doors, freezing mid-animation before snapping into place.
If you run into a problem after updating, please let us know what happened. Save files are especially helpful for issues that only appear after a longer play session. Thank you to everyone who's shared reports and saves with us. We'll keep watching how 1.0.4 plays for you.
