The southern steppes are intriguing not only for the story of Ashwad and the destruction of an entire tribe, but also for the unusual spirit—Luman.
Those who have seen him claim that Luman was an ordinary fluffy cat living in the steppe. Ashwad captured him to study the beast's spirit. But Ashwad was unable to cope with the power of so many beasts, so he transported them into a mirror. Luman, however, managed to slip away at the very last moment before his imprisonment, unnoticed by the shaman.
Unlike many of his feline brethren, Luman had a very kind disposition. He had never been an aggressive predator, so after becoming a spirit, he did not attack demons, humans, elves, or dwarves who wandered into his territory. On the contrary, he even helped some find their way, warned them of the movement of packs of wild huyars, or escorted them to the nearest river so that they could quench their thirst. This gave rise to a tradition among the locals: when traveling through the steppes, they take some dried meat or a flatbread for Luman and leave it on the rocks. It is said that if the cat accepts the treat, the journey will be smooth.
