In the foothills, where the savanna meets the rocky wastes, live the Guyars—enormous predators the size of warhorses.
Unlike ordinary beasts, their hides aren't simply spotted: real stones grow from their flesh. It is said that these stones are fragments of the souls of their ancestors. When Ashwad sought to harness the souls of the beasts, he didn't know this. Because of this, the shaman was unable to control the power he had received, and so he created the Beast Mirror.
While the spirits imprisoned in the artifact are dangerous, the Guyars remaining in the Sphere don't harbor pure malice. They can attack anyone who enters their territory, but they revere strong-hearted fighters. And if they sense an equal, they may even bow their heads and allow themselves to be ridden.
