SproutBound v1.2.0 - Seasons & Garden Themes
The garden now turns with the calendar, and your fields can wear a whole new look.
Seasons
- The year now runs through Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Each season lasts about 3 hours of play and is shown next to the date.
- Every crop belongs to a season. In-season crops earn +10% harvest value and are marked on their seed button. Hover the season badge to see what's in season and how long it lasts.
- You'll get a note in the log when a new season begins. Every season has crops from the early game through the late game.
Garden Themes
- Choose the artwork behind your fields in Settings → Garden Theme.
- Seasons is free for everyone and changes with the calendar.
- Five more themes unlock for free as you play, or can be bought early with coins:
- 🌾 Earthen Fields - harvest 1,000 crops
- 🍄 Mushroom Grove - unlock 15 seeds
- 🌴 Tropical Sunset - harvest 25,000 crops
- 🌙 Enchanted Forest - reach Prestige P1
- 🐠 Underwater Reef - reach Prestige P3
- Themes are cosmetic and stay unlocked through prestige. Milestones you've already reached unlock their themes as soon as you load in.
Faster Growing With Water
- Crops now grow at the speed of their current water level. Before, a plant's speed was fixed the moment it started growing, so the ★★ (+10%) and ★★★ (+20%) growth bonuses - and the extra growth speed from prestige - only applied if you watered it in the same instant you planted it. Irrigated fields and automated farms never got them.
- Now watering at any time speeds a plant up, irrigated crops speed up as they fill, and automated farms get the full bonus: an automated tomato field with irrigation cycles in 28s instead of 31s (24s at P9).
- Irrigation keeps pace with faster crops, so a fast-growing irrigated field still reaches ★★★ before harvest.
Other Changes
- Change a whole field's crop with the tractor still on. Select a seed, right-click the 🚜 tractor button and choose Clear tractor memory: the tractor plants that seed in every slot of this field, or of all your fields. Growing crops finish and are harvested first, then that seed takes their place, so nothing is wasted. No more switching the tractor off and replanting by hand.
- A seed whose only remaining requirement is its unlock cost is no longer greyed out, and its border gently glows once you can afford it.
- The log's activity summaries now default to Simple, and this update switches existing games to Simple once (pick Advanced in the log panel any time; your choice sticks).
Bug Fixes
- Missing icons on Windows 10. Bean, Bell Pepper, Olives, Blueberry, Lavender, Ginger and Pea Pods showed as blank boxes because Windows 10's emoji font is too old. The game now carries its own colour emoji for anything your system can't draw.
- Seeds planted by the tractor now count toward "Must plant" unlock requirements, and the requirement disappears from the seed list the moment you plant (it used to linger until something else refreshed the list).
- Offline earnings now match playing. While you were away, every replanted crop was paid at the quality of the plant that was growing when you left. A dry plant at logout could cut a catch-up to about a quarter of what the same time earns while playing, even with irrigation on. Each replanted crop now earns its own quality.
- Quickgrow crops replant at their real speed during offline catch-up (they were about 15% slow) and are no longer charged irrigation while you're away (they are exempt, as they are while playing).
- Offline catch-up and live play now use the same growth calculation, so the same time away earns the same as the same time playing. That also ends the reverse error: crops watered by hand right before you left used to pay every later replant at that top quality, overpaying a catch-up by about half.
- Irrigation that ran out of coins now switches back on during an offline catch-up as soon as your harvests pay for it, just as it does while playing. It used to stay off for the whole time you were away. Likewise, irrigation that runs out of coins while you're away now pauses when it would have while playing, instead of running on and being paid for from later harvests.
- Backups (Quick Backup, the 10-minute auto-backup and exports) now capture your game as it is right now, not as of the last autosave.
- Restoring a backup pauses the game while the save is swapped, so nothing from the old run can be written over it.
- Prestige no longer resets the calendar back to Day 1.
- The prestige panel shows the real yield bonus per level (about +1.67%, +15% at P9).
Your save carries over as-is, and the classic farm stays the default until you pick something else.
