Ranchers,
The frontier is stirring in Update 0.6.41. New tribes arrive to make their home nearby, and their camps grow while supplies last. But hunger can turn a quiet neighbor into a threat, with hostile warriors looking to your herds for their next meal. Behind the fort’s wooden walls, soldiers are ready to saddle up whether you need rifles watching over your pastures or an armed expedition sent against the natives.
Native Camps and Tribes
Added new tribes, including peaceful and aggressive groups, that can settle in the nearby camp when it is unoccupied.
Abandoned camps can now be settled by another tribe.
Well-supplied camps can grow, gradually increasing their food consumption and demand for cattle.
Hungry aggressive tribes may raid your pastures. Selling cattle to the tribe can help prevent these attacks.
Added notifications and illustrations for tribal arrivals, raids, stolen cattle, successful defenses, and camp destruction.
Fort Missions
Pasture protection: Hire four soldiers to guard one of your pastures.
Camp assaults: Order the army to attack the occupied native camp. A successful assault leaves no survivors and discourages other tribes from settling nearby for an extended period.
The fort needs enough available troops before accepting a mission. Unavailable actions now explain why they cannot be selected.
Soldiers lost during missions are replaced by weekly reinforcements from Santa Aurelia.
Balance
Reduced base grass consumption by a further 10%, while preserving existing trait and perk modifiers.
Reduced the extra grass consumption caused by heavily stocked and overcrowded pastures.
Interface and Quality of Life
Pressing Esc with a settlement or pasture panel open now closes that panel first. Press Esc again to open the pause menu.
Improved tooltip visibility around NPC panels.
What’s Next
Going forward, I’m aiming to release a larger update roughly once a month. Bugs and smaller improvements will still get attention between those updates. I try to address reported problems from one day to the next whenever possible, so please keep letting me know if something is not working as it should. You can reach me through Discord or the Steam Community Hub.
For the next update, I’d like to introduce food and whiskey supplies to satisfy your cowboys’ needs while they work away from the Household. I also want to add camps on pastures, making regular supply deliveries part of looking after your crew out on the range.
To give those camps and journeys more purpose, I’d also like to expand the map to roughly four times its current area, with larger pastures, longer roads, and more distance between destinations. Staying out on the pastures would then become a practical alternative to returning home, making travel, camping, and supplying your cowboys a more important part of ranch life.
Thank you for playing, sharing your ideas, and helping me improve Ranchbound. Your reports and suggestions continue to shape what I work on next!
