This is a Slog Report, an end-of-the-month progress report to assure you that development is still enslaving me.
For this month I had to step back a bit from the large level assets to give some attention to other aspects of the game, to be listed below:
The report:
Firstly, the engine has been updated from a 2023 version to the LTS (Long Term Stable) version. After some testing, the transition proved to have little to no impact on the game itself, save for some few minor quirks. With that mentioned, there are a few additions in progress.
The resolution:
Prior, the game's resolution settings could prove to be a bit janky at specific circumstances. Thanks to some extensive testing and direct contributions with a colleague, the game's resolution scaling is now more consistent on displays with differing aspect ratios from the game's native aspect ratio. On top of that, integer scaling fullscreen has been made possible thanks to their contributions, which will become a fullscreen scaling option alongside the formerly default option, stretched fullscreen.
Tinted time:
Despite being implemented in earlier months, an additional effect has been implemented with the day-night cycle, which tints the environment depending on the time. On a minor note, random environmental effects and weathers are planned, but are currently on a low priority.
The other WIPs:
On top of accessing new areas for the new act, I plan to make side quests also more prominent here. Some minor work has been started with some of the side quests, however adding these would also mean I have to allocate time to make character sprites on top of designing the interactable NPCs to begin with.
There's nothing personal left for me to say. But still, I hope you continue to be patient with me.
