Dear conductors,
This update adds Auto-Run, letting you release the forward key on long journeys and look around more comfortably. Room settings now include โNo Tool Durability Loss,โ so you can choose how you want to play. Changes to room settings also take effect immediately.
We have also improved controller controls, recipe browsing, crafting, and item organization, while strengthening saving and recovery so more world progress and personal preferences are preserved.
The Giant Octopus battle has received several fixes: ordinary tentacles can now take damage, tentacle slams damage structures, and players in the water attract the monster's attention. Remember to bring train repair materials!
Here are the full update notes.
๐ Auto-Run makes long journeys easier
The new Auto-Run feature keeps you running forward without holding the forward key.
Press โ=โ to activate it by default.
Press it again, or press another key, to interrupt it.
Mouse clicks and controller inputs also interrupt Auto-Run.
Looking around does not interrupt it, so you can observe your surroundings as you travel.
Auto-Run can be rebound in the control settings. It has no controller binding by default.
๐ ๏ธ New room setting: No Tool Durability Loss
Room settings now include **โNo Tool Durability Lossโ**, disabled by default.
When enabled:
Tools no longer lose durability.
Weapons no longer lose durability.
Powered tools and weapons still consume electricity normally.
Choose whether to enable it to suit your survival, building, and exploration preferences.
โ๏ธ Room settings take effect immediately
Changes to room settings now take effect immediately, without clicking Apply.
This prevents changes from being missed because Apply was not clicked, making the results clearer.
๐ฒ Improved recipe browsing and details
The recipe list now uses panel space more effectively, showing more recipes.
Click a recipe to open a separate details page where you can:
View the dish's effects.
View the required ingredients.
Use the quick-insert function.
Close the details in any of these ways:
Click an empty area.
Click the close button.
Press Back.
Your position in the recipe list is retained, so you can keep browsing without finding your place again.
๐ฎ Smoother controller menu switching
Improved the order in which shoulder buttons switch menus.
Pressing the right shoulder button cycles through:
Inventory โ Crafting โ Map โ Abilities โ Blueprints
The left shoulder button cycles in reverse.
Selection wraps around at either end and automatically skips hidden or unavailable menus for smoother navigation.
๐งญ Controller crafting-category navigation fixed
Fixed changing crafting categories sometimes requiring two D-pad presses.
Browsing crafting categories with the D-pad now responds more directly.
๐ฆ New controller action: drop inventory items
After selecting an item in the inventory, press:
Xbox controller: X
PlayStation controller: โก
to drop the selected item.
If you first split off and pick up part of a stack, only the amount currently held is dropped.
The corresponding controller drop prompt has also been added.
๐จ Crafting-list edge display fixed
Fixed incomplete selection borders on items at the edges of the crafting list and improved click feedback.
Edge item cards now have a more natural, complete selection highlight, making it easier to see what you are viewing or preparing to craft.
๐๏ธ Building Hammer selection screen simplified
Removed the search bar in the upper-right corner for a cleaner screen.
You can still browse and select structures through building categories.
๐ More consistent durability bars
All items with durability now always show their durability bar.
At full durability, the complete bar is displayed.
As durability changes, the bar continues to show its current state.
This also fixes the Oxygen Mask's bar repeatedly appearing and disappearing as it drains and recovers, making equipment status easier to read.
โจ Item acquisition notifications no longer obstruct crafting
While the crafting screen is open, item notifications appear one by one, moving upward in the preview area, obscuring less of the materials and crafting buttons.
When crafting is closed, notifications return to their original position.
During continuous crafting, you can more clearly check materials, adjust actions, and confirm received items.
๐งฐ Control Console repair-all material check fixed
Fixed repair-all sometimes reporting insufficient materials even when enough were available.
Repairs now:
Use materials carried by the player first.
If those are insufficient, multiple Automatic Supply Chests aboard the train make up the shortfall together.
Materials spread across different supply chests can now be combined to meet the required amount.
๐ Item stacking and container organization fixes
Fixed several abnormal stacking issues in your inventory and containers.
๐งฉ Drag-and-drop merging of older items fixed
Fixed some older items being unable to merge by dragging despite being below their stack limit.
๐๏ธ Storage chest sorting fixed
Fixed identical items remaining split into several stacks after sorting a chest.
Everyday organization is now more reliable, with less repeated manual rearranging.
๐พ More stable saving
Continued improving saving and progress restoration when loading.
๐ Food and hydration restoration fixed
Fixed saved food and hydration states being overwritten by initial values in certain loading situations.
๐ Better retries after saving fails
Improved retry handling after save failures, reducing the risk of progress not being saved.
โ๏ธ More progress and preferences included in save syncing
Improved save recording and cloud syncing of important information, so more progress and preferences previously kept only locally now travel with your save.
๐ดโโ ๏ธ Bandit Shop affinity syncing
Fixed Bandit Shop affinity not syncing with saves.
The update automatically imports old affinity progress still stored on this device and reduces affinity rollback when restoring saves.
๐ Time of day and day count saved
Added saving of time of day and elapsed days, preserving world time when you continue.
โค๏ธ Favorites and control preferences saved
The following are now saved:
Recipe favorites.
Sorting and filtering preferences.
Custom key bindings.
Fishing settings.
๐ Crafting category and first-time tips remembered
The game remembers your crafting category and some first-time tips you have already seen when you return.
Old records still on this device are imported automatically, reducing repeated setup and repeated tips.
๐ Giant Octopus disengagement and rematches improved
After leaving combat, the octopus now dives into the sea and slowly regenerates health.
Approach again to start another challenge.
Continuing after exiting preserves the remaining health recorded in the save, restoring the monster's combat state along with your progress.
โ๏ธ Ordinary tentacles around the octopus can now take damage
Fixed the ordinary tentacles around the octopus being immune to damage.
Approaching and attacking them now deals damage normally, including after swimming closer.
๐ฅ Giant Octopus tentacle damage to structures fixed
Fixed tentacle slams failing to damage structures.
Each slam now deals 100 damage to each structure around the impact point.
Watch for carriage damage and repair promptly to avoid losing structures to repeated slams.
๐ค The sea monster now notices players in the water
Fixed the Giant Octopus ignoring players in water.
Swimming near it now attracts its attention. Whether swimming at the surface or diving, beware of its rapid-fire ink attacks.
Watch for attacks and dodge when approaching through the water.
๐ Deep-Sea Bridge and rescue stairway railings fixed
Fixed being able to pass through some railings on the bridge and rescue stairway.
Also closed overly wide railing gaps at bends to reduce accidental passage through them.
๐ช Half-height stair placement alignment fixed
Fixed half-height stairs being offset by half a grid cell and failing to align with floor edges.
This applies to:
Wooden Half-Height Stairs
Stone Half-Height Stairs
Iron Half-Height Stairs
Connections with floor edges are now more accurate when building mezzanines and split-level spaces.
๐ชข Minor zipline scrapes are less likely to make you let go
Improved collision tolerance on ziplines, reducing accidental detachment from minor contact along your body or bumps near your feet.
Light scrapes are more stable; obstacles that truly block the route still interrupt the ride.
๐งฑ More stable building previews and distant construction
Reduced preview flicker while preserving responsiveness, making placement adjustments and checks steadier.
Also improved building far from the world's starting position, reducing instability after long journeys.
๐ช First-level glass floor display fixed
Fixed some areas of first-level glass floors being intersected by chassis crossbeams and carriage connector plates.
Glass floors now fit the train structure more naturally, with fewer unwanted parts protruding through them.
๐ค Multiplayer placement display fixed
Fixed placed items temporarily disappearing and appearing only later in multiplayer.
This delay could suggest placement had failed, leading to repeated placement and overlapping items. Related display and placement behavior have been improved.
Also fixed items failing to appear when picked up and put back in the same spot. If placement fails, the corresponding item is returned.
๐ก๏ธ Item and material protection when placement fails
Fixed some failed placements still consuming the item.
Failed placement now retains both the item and its preview, so you can adjust the position and try again.
Failed ladder and zipline construction no longer consumes materials either.
