Dear conductors,
This update makes life and production aboard your train more convenient: Auto Grappling Hooks and Auto Drills can now be upgraded to electric power, Tier 3 Cooking Stations can cook three pots at once, and batch crafting is now available!
We have also improved the controller and Steam Deck experience, with item transfers to all 7 hotbar slots and a new R3 action to cycle entire rows of items, making tool changes and inventory organization easier.
Wooden Vertical Ladders can now connect vertically for uninterrupted climbing, and map area notifications are back. This update also adjusts Advanced Oxygen Tanks, weapon displays, and mineral distribution, and fixes multiplayer building, room notifications, and unexpected train position changes.
Here are the full update details.
⚡ Electric upgrades for automatic equipment
Auto Grappling Hooks and Auto Drills now support electric upgrades. Bring electric power to your train's automatic equipment!
How to upgrade
Aim at the equipment and hold X. The upgrade costs 2 Makeshift Circuit Boards.
What changes after upgrading
**Electric power:** Runs when powered; no more winding required.
**Unlocks 2 module slots:** Install modules to suit your needs.
New appearance: a distinctive machine-blue electrical control box makes upgraded equipment easy to recognize.
Supported modules
**Speed Module:** Increases operating speed.
**Capacity Module:** Adds storage space.
**Silencing Module:** Reduces equipment noise.
Get your circuit boards ready and give your automatic equipment a new way to work!
🍲 Tier 3 Cooking Station: three pots at once
Tier 3 Cooking Stations can now cook three pots simultaneously, making food preparation easier for long expeditions and group trips.
Each pot has 6 ingredient slots.
You can start cooking, empty the food, and check progress independently for each pot.
After selecting a pot, both Shift+left-click quick ingredient transfer and recipe-based quick ingredient transfer add ingredients to that pot.
The station's flame stays lit as long as at least one pot is cooking.
Cook different meals together and pack a few more warm dishes before setting off!
🛠️ Batch crafting added
You can now queue multiple crafts at once when making supplies.
At the bottom of the center panel in the crafting interface, use **“−/+”** to set the quantity and batch-craft the current item.
Required materials update with the crafting quantity, helping you check costs, prepare supplies, and avoid repetitive actions.
🎮 More controller and Steam Deck improvements
We have further improved menu browsing, research, crafting, and item organization with controllers for smoother selection, movement, and switching.
Menu navigation and research
Use LB/RB to switch hotbars and menu pages.
Use the D-pad or left stick to move between options.
In the research interface, press A to view details, then A again to confirm research.
Fixed certain recipes becoming unselectable after switching crafting categories.
Corrected directional navigation in the inventory hotbar and crafting categories so movement matches the on-screen layout.
The refresh button in the legacy shop now supports controller confirmation.
Smoother item transfers to all 7 hotbar slots
Improved item transfers between body storage, backpack, storage, and hotbar, along with controls while waiting for synchronization.
Pick up items from body storage or the backpack and place them in any of the 7 hotbar slots. You can also move hotbar items back into the backpack above.
How to do it:
Press the confirm button to pick up an item.
Use the D-pad or left stick to reach the destination slot. For the hotbar, move to the bottom row.
Press the confirm button again to place the item.
Cycle entire item rows with R3
With the backpack open, press R3 (click the right stick) to cycle the hotbar and the two rows of body storage as whole rows.
Switch to a full row of tools or supplies without moving each item separately.
Quick crafting for basic materials
You can now select and confirm the **“+”** button beside crafting materials with a controller to quickly make the basic materials you need.
Clearer selection indicators
Controller selections now have dark outlines, gold borders, and white corner markers, making them easier to see on light backgrounds.
Added selection indicators to the main menu.
When browsing long lists, the selected option scrolls into view promptly.
Existing keyboard and mouse controls remain available, with their corresponding display and controls restored when you switch back.
🪜 Wooden Vertical Ladders: easier connections, smoother climbing
Vertical connections and continuous climbing
Wooden Vertical Ladders can now join vertically into longer ladders. Keep moving to climb continuously up or down, without grabbing again at segment joins.
Placement alignment assistance for adjacent segments also makes connecting floors easier.
Fewer accidental descents
Reduced the pull toward ladders when descending. You now need to move closer to the ladder opening and walk straight toward it, reducing accidental climbing when passing alongside or diagonally.
Multiplayer building fix
Fixed an issue where building Wooden Vertical Ladders in multiplayer could report “Not enough materials” despite sufficient planks, preventing construction.
Building interface scaling
Improved the building interface across screen sizes, preventing top navigation and building action buttons from overlapping so the building list remains usable.
🫧 Advanced Oxygen Tank improvements
Larger oxygen supply area
The Advanced Oxygen Tank's supply range has increased by 25%, with its range indicator enlarged accordingly.
Slow automatic mask refilling
While wearing an Iron Oxygen Mask or Alloy Oxygen Mask, you can now refill slowly and automatically inside an Advanced Oxygen Tank's supply area.
For faster refilling, you can still press E to refill manually.
Makeshift Oxygen Masks do not support this new automatic refilling feature.
🗺️ Map notifications restored, regional environment and resources adjusted
Map area notifications restored
Entering a map area once again displays the map name and available resources, helping you identify the area and what you can find there.
Regional oxygen consumption and water collection adjustments
We have made more detailed adjustments to the actual oxygen consumption and water collection rates on each map.
**Oxygen use depends on woodland:** Consumption is slower in heavily forested areas and faster where trees are sparse or absent.
**Water collection varies by area:** The notification shown when entering a map tells you the area's water collection rate.
Watch environmental notifications as you explore to plan oxygen and water supplies for the journey ahead.
Mineral distribution adjustments
Reduced uranium ore spawn chances in non-volcanic areas to match diamond ore.
Increased the proportions of iron, copper, coal, and gold deposits in non-volcanic areas.
Mineral distribution in volcanic areas is unchanged.
For future exploration, we plan to add mine maps where rare ores appear more frequently, and possibly new minerals. These are future plans and are not included in this update.
A clue for finding sulfur
The sulfur powder description now notes that “Sulfur can be gathered at the central volcano.” Descriptions in all languages have been updated to help you find crafting materials.
🏹 Arrow indicators and musket adjustments
New arrow indicator while holding a bow
While holding a bow, the area above the hotbar now shows the selected arrow type and remaining quantity.
Updates when you change arrow types.
Updates the remaining count after each shot.
Shows a red warning when you have no arrows.
Check your arrow supply more easily before setting out and during combat.
Musket knockback adjustments
The short musket's knockback now matches the long musket's previous strength.
The long musket now launches teammates farther and higher.
Improved multiplayer knockback feedback to reduce animation delays after hits.
Arm and held-item pose fixes
Improved the left-hand display on ziplines to prevent abnormal arm models from blocking your view.
Fixed raised arms and hands separating from guns when switching firearms while crouched.
Improved hand-pose recovery when switching between fishing rods and firearms.
🔌 Improved display of electric module effects
The power panel now shows icons and short effect descriptions for active modules, making current equipment bonuses easier to check.
Modules of the same type combine into a total bonus display.
The display updates automatically when modules are removed.
When no modules are active, the corresponding display area collapses automatically.
♻️ Trash bins now compact items individually
Trash bins can now compact items one at a time, with clearer progress feedback.
Compacting one item now takes one tenth of the previous full cycle time.
Each compacted item adds 10% to the trash gauge.
Filling the gauge produces scrap.
Accumulated progress is retained, and the interface now uses icons to show it clearly.
Process spare items gradually to work toward the next piece of scrap.
📘 Technology blueprint and upgrade material changes
Tier 2 technology blueprint changes
Temporarily removed the Extension Platform blueprint. The platform will return to the building hammer's construction list after further development and polish.
The Two-Seater Chair returns to Tier 2 technology blueprints.
Lower Hand-Crank Engine upgrade cost
Upgrading the Hand-Crank Engine from level 4 to level 5 now requires 3 Iron Gears instead of 10.
🔧 Multiplayer, save, and reward fixes
Fixed false “Room no longer valid” messages appearing while the game was still properly connected.
Fixed redemption code rewards being claimable again after saving, exiting, and re-entering the game.
Fixed trains suddenly jumping far away in some saves when entering the game or resuming travel.
