We wanted to update you on a change we've made! We have updated High Fidelity on Steam to use a client-only installer that lets you explore the metaverse, play with objects, and socialize with others around the world in VR. A client-only installer requires fewer resources from your computer.
Why the change?
We are removing the auto-download Sandbox component to ensure a faster and leaner install. We found that while some users want to jump in right away hosting their own content in Sandbox, many would rather explore the metaverse first.
What if I still want to host content?
High Fidelity still offers content creators to host their own content, with the option to share it with the world. To do this, you’ll need the Sandbox component of High Fidelity. Get our client + sandbox for local content creation here: https://highfidelity.com/download/sandbox
Will this impact my in-world experience?
No, your in-world experience is not affected by this change.
I already have content that I built on my Sandbox. How do I retrieve it?
Your content is safely stored in your local system on your computer. To download and install the client + sandbox version of High Fidelity, please head on over to https://highfidelity.com/download/sandbox.
Then, to retrieve your content, 1) click on system tray in the bottom right 2) click on the High Fidelity icon and 3) click Home. You should automatically see that your content is back for you to continue building.
