Summer break is over, and we’re slowly heading into autumn. It’s a season of warm colors, crisp breezes, pumpkins, and cozy afternoons with a cup of tea. So get comfortable, sip your drink, and catch up on what we’ve been working on over the past few weeks.
We’ve reworked much of the game’s UI to lean fully into that late-’90s/early-2000s desktop feel. Think Windows XP nostalgia, but cozy. It’s a look that just fits the retro-desktop spirit of Occult Office. UI design might seem straightforward, but getting it right takes a lot of work. After all, it plays a big part in shaping a game’s identity.
What we’re most excited about, though, is our new key art. You’ve probably already noticed it on our refreshed Steam page, and we think it looks great!
We’re incredibly grateful to Jenny Brozek, the talented artist who painted it. She’s a fellow indie developer working on her own café management game, and we’ll share more about it when the time is right. Her illustration has exactly the magical, nostalgic atmosphere we’ve been aiming for: our witch pouring her heart into her project by moonlight. Jenny captured that feeling perfectly.
The game is getting closer and closer to completion, so stay tuned for more updates!
