vrOS v1.0.0-rc.1 Patch Notes
Highlights
First release candidate for vrOS v1.0.0. The 0.17.x dashboard, tray, and media-widget polish work has landed; this RC is the bake before the v1.0.0 stable cut.
New Features
- Dashboard revamp: overlay layout modes, logo gestures, and a new compact dashboard for quick access.
- Settings panel now persists the active tab and scroll position across sessions, and the vestibular subtab is gated behind a feature flag.
- System-tray menu redesigned: dark Discord-style owner-drawn menu with an About popup and a one-click dashboard reset shortcut.
- System-tray menu now opens on left-click as well as right-click — much easier to hit while wearing a headset.
Bug Fixes
- VR keyboard: layout handlers are now registered on the VR keyboard view bridge so custom layouts actually take effect.
- VR keyboard: stopped auto-recentering the world-anchored keyboard — it now stays where you placed it.
- VR keyboard: the overlay re-fetches its layout from the database on activation, so layout edits show up without restart.
- Overlay picker: refresh and "New Overlay" buttons now stay in sync with the layout-mode picker.
- Overlay picker: unified "New Overlay" / Cancel button styling; logo refresh re-fetches the picker.
- VR dashboard hit-test reticle no longer sticks to the previous anchor position after a mode swap, and the active dashboard mode now persists across SteamVR restarts.
- Per-anchor dashboard size is preserved across mode swaps, and the compact-mode width range has been tightened.
- Wrist→world dashboard swap no longer slams the overlay to the floor; per-anchor size is preserved during the swap.
- Tray click events now route through set_event_handler instead of an internal channel, fixing dropped clicks.
- Compact-dashboard button font enlarged; added a "Confirm Recenter All" toggle so you don't lose your overlay layout to a stray gesture.
- Media widget no longer renders over-sized; the portal Select listbox now layers above sibling widgets.
- Anchor-swap stability improvements, clock scaling fix, and a beefier media widget.
- Fixed media-widget swap lag, compact-mode lock-state drift, gesture phantom-up release, and general layout-mode polish.
- Regenerated the vrOS-256 logo from the standard transparent source for crisper edges.
- Media widget switching, compact-dash anchor memory, and Select dropdown auto-alignment all behave correctly now.
- Compact-dash polish plus a real Windows SMTC (System Media Transport Controls) media backend — previously a placeholder.
- "New Overlay" icon button now uses the shared Btn wrapper with the success variant for visual consistency.
- Dashboard revamp follow-up: compact-dash logo, refresh wiring, and icon-only layout fixes.
