Introducing BGFG - a universal frame generator that can be used with games, anime, and live-action content. Trained on tens of thousands of hours of gameplay it is one of the most accurate general purpose frame generators available today that requires zero game modifications to use. Special care has been put into reducing ghosting and UI smearing.
When I shipped the rewrite of Borderless Gaming last year I mentioned that the primary motivator was to be able to ship new baseline features to extend the functionality and usefulness of Borderless Gaming so it can continue to be the tool you reach for to make PC gaming more enjoyable.
Since then I've shipped Steam Deck support, BGProxy to make every game compatible, BGFX / BGUS (which I think you're all sleeping on how powerful BGFX really is, just look at the cool stuff you can do), and a list of compatibility and bug fixes that were long in the making. Now that BGFG is out, all the milestones I set have been reached. So, your feedback will be invaluable to shaping any future versions, so be sure to test it!
The quickest way to jump in is to make a profile that uses the new builtin BGFG + BGUS preset.
If you'd like to skip upscaling or combine other effects, you can easily make your own preset:
Included in this update are a number of other fixes:
- Fixed GPU scaling freezes and black screens when Frame Buffer Queue is set to 1.
- Improved mouse responsiveness while scaling
- Fixed duplicate cursors appearing during scaling.
- Fixed mouse sensitivity not restoring correctly after scaling ends.
- Improved frame pacing and capture reliability.
- Fixed crashes when reopening presets in Borderless Gaming (Steam Deck)
- Fixed duplicate presets being created when no changes were made.
