Russian Front returns with an update focused on a clearer interface, smoother play and improved reliability on Windows and macOS.
Interface and controls
- Rescaled and tidied menus, dialogs and the in-game interface, with more consistent text sizes, spacing and alignment.
- Fixed misplaced save/load slots, incorrect dialog headings and confirmation backgrounds that did not cover the screen.
- Improved keyboard navigation through menus and dialogs, including the turn prompt and volume sliders.
- Fixed buttons appearing permanently highlighted when using the mouse.
- Prevented map movement, zooming and clicks from passing through open menus and confirmation dialogs.
- Retuned keyboard map scrolling for more consistent control across frame rates.
- Improved the expanded timeline's city list and score graph.
- Added a clear Exit Game control and removed the old introductory videos for a more direct route to the main menu.
Map and units
- Sharpened yellow unit highlights while keeping their existing appearance and animation.
- Improved unit placement on uneven ground. Individual soldiers now follow terrain height while remaining upright, and vehicles align with the surface.
- Improved contact-shadow placement beneath units.
- Fixed tactical outlines and movement arrows intersecting the terrain on slopes and ridges.
- Corrected opening camera positioning so stale settings no longer override the intended scenario view.
Gameplay and reliability
- Reduced unnecessary waits during AI turns and combat presentation.
- Corrected AI campaign reinforcement spending and unit-strength limits.
- Fixed turn-progression errors and cases where long AI turns could end prematurely despite still making progress.
- Improved movement pathfinding and consistency between gameplay systems.
- Improved save/load error handling, including clearer feedback when a save cannot be written or a selected file is unavailable.
- Added safer save-file writing and checks that reject damaged saves before loading them.
