Hello, this is the Embers of the Uncrowned development team.
In this Dev Log, we will introduce you to the second class that will accompany you on your journey:
Spectral Blade.
Design Objective: A Sword Dance with Oneself
Our primary goal for the Spectral Blade was to deliver a unique, stylish combat experience — one best described as "fighting as if you were dancing with yourself."
We wanted to create a class that offers more than just high attack speed. The vision was a role with real depth, where the possibilities open up based on the player's raw skill and creativity.
The Spectral Blade is designed to confuse enemies and dominate the battlefield through unpredictable movements, driven by Phantom and Stealth skills.

Combat Mechanics
The Spectral Blade delivers mesmerizing combat through skill combinations, chained attacks, exceptional mobility, and a variety of deception skills — all tied to her core resource: Shade.
We designed this class to offer a satisfying combat rhythm, along with the thrill of confounding and outmaneuvering enemies.
To bring this playstyle to life, we built the combat flow around acquiring and consuming Shades. Shades stack whenever you use certain skills, and can be spent to empower your skills or trigger special effects.
Deciding whether to quickly build up Shades and burn them in a rapid-fire assault, or save them for a decisive moment, is the foundation of the Spectral Blade's combat strategy.
Creating and using Phantoms is another key pillar of the Spectral Blade's design.
Phantoms are more than simple clones — they can serve as another way to generate Shade, or act as lethal partners that consume Shades to unleash powerful joint attacks. By chaining your skills with a Phantom, you can pull off explosive combinations.
The Spectral Blade's stylish combat is further accentuated by high mobility through position swapping, and by the unpredictability of Stealth-based ambushes that keep enemies off-balance.
Dual Elements, Limitless Adaptability
The Spectral Blade offers a wide spectrum of combat styles built around two elements: Physical and Darkness. Through the Trait system, you can commit to one of these paths and refine a playstyle that's your own.
Here are a few of the key builds you can shape through the Trait system.
Physical Element:
This build focuses on generating Shades rapidly and spending them on finishing skills, delivering overwhelming damage in a short window.
While in Stealth, you can use Rear Strike to maximize damage from behind the enemy. This mechanic offers the thrill of assassination, landing a catastrophic blow when the enemy least expects it.
Darkness Element:
Conceal yourself with Fog and Shadow Stealth, then disorient enemies with Phantom skills before weaving together a variety of attacks to outmaneuver them and stay alive.
Throwing Darts from a distance keeps enemies at bay, and consuming Shades to enhance your throwing skills lets you control the pace of every engagement and stay in command of the fight.
Design Concept
The Spectral Blade was designed around the concept of "manifestation magic" — the ability to conjure duplicates of one's own sword. We reflected this directly in the weapon design, equipping her with dual blades: one a tangible, physical longsword, and the other a translucent phantom blade conjured through magic.

Light armor and cloth were chosen for the Spectral Blade's attire to keep her agile, acrobatic movements unimpeded.
We added a mask to shroud her identity, along with translucent fabric accents that leave trailing afterimages as she moves — visually capturing the mysterious, elusive essence of a wielder of Phantoms.
If you're drawn to the thrill of stylish execution and high-speed mechanical mastery, the Spectral Blade is the class for you. We also encourage you to experiment with different builds through the Trait system and shape a combat style that's truly your own.
In the next Dev Log, we'll introduce you to the final class: Stormbringer.
Sincerely,
Embers of the Uncrowned Development Team
