Hello, Outpost Keepers!
Update 0.17.19 is now available, and the Wanderers' Outpost demo is back on Steam.
Since the Early Access launch, I've been releasing smaller patches based on player feedback, mostly focused on bugs, onboarding, clearer pawn activity, and UI improvements.
The Demo Is Back
I've relaunched the demo so new players can try Wanderers' Outpost before deciding whether to buy the full game.
The game is still early in Early Access, and admittedly, it may not be for everyone just yet. The demo gives you a chance to experience the game as it is today and decide for yourself.
The updated demo covers the early outpost experience and ends after completing the first dungeon floor.
What's Changed Since Launch
Improved hostile and wildlife AI, including fixes for enemies getting stuck or failing to reach targets.
Improved hunting and added Hay Beds as an early lodging option.
Added a clearer onboarding checklist for building your first outpost.
Improved the Pawn, Party, and Craft interfaces.
Improved automatic harvesting and crop work.
Pawns now show what they're carrying and the amount carried.
Improved pawn selection, camera movement, and time controls.
Fixed various construction, trading, guest behavior, UI, and simulation issues.
Update 0.17.19
Extended Onboarding
Extended onboarding into basic food production.
Added objectives for gathering forageables, growing crops, and cooking food.
Added guidance for assigning workers and selecting recipes.
Players familiar with these systems can finish onboarding earlier and continue on their own.
Expeditions and Danger
Added a compact party list to the HUD for tracking active expeditions.
Made Outpost Danger easier to see and understand.
Outpost Danger now affects the timing of hostile encounters.
Fixed chickpeas displaying the wrong growth stage.
Action Bar
Reworked the bottom action bar with dedicated icons.
Keyboard shortcuts remain visible beside each icon.
Hovering an action shows its name and shortcut.
Added distinct icons for different food types.
Demo
Updated the demo with the latest gameplay, onboarding, and UI improvements.
Completing the first dungeon floor now marks the end of the demo.
Added a completion screen showing some of what continues in the full game.
Demo saves are now separate from full-game saves.
Added a clear Demo label to the main menu.
Demo completion is available in English, Malay, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.
What's Next
The next major content update is planned for about two weeks from now.
The first patches after launch have mainly focused on fixes and improving the current experience based on player feedback. The next major update will focus more on new and expanded content.
Smaller fixes will continue in the meantime.
Thank you to everyone who has played, reported bugs, shared saves, and left feedback since launch.
If you've been interested in Wanderers' Outpost but weren't sure about jumping into Early Access yet, the demo is back and available to try.
