We’re pleased to announce the release of version 2.0.22 of the Shoot ‘Em Up Kit.
The changelist is as follows:
- Meshes can be combined to create new Entities.
- Added an Event Condition Definition, which can be used to create groups of event conditions (such as 'Control Left' and 'Control Up') which must all be met before an Action is triggered.
- Actions support Event Conditions, allowing actions based on multiple event criteria.
- Added select button to Front-End and HUD editors (lists items in the main page or currently editing popup)
- Selecting overlapping items will cycle through them in the Front-End and HUD editors.
- Updated the EULA to allow use of the graphics and audio assets within any games (commercial or non-commercial) created with the Shoot 'Em Up Kit.
- Added more tooltip help around the Editors.
- Fixed an issue that could prevent some Action properties from being saved.
- The ‘Back’ option moved to top of list of games in Play window
- Project name field has focus when project window opens when creating a project
- Displaying a warning if name already used when creating a project
- Many small fixes and improvements.
We apologise for the long time between updates. As we’ve posted previously, we’re working on some major low-level engine improvements to update the graphics and audio technologies we use and open up many new possibilities for the future. However, this has taken longer than planned so we have moved some of the new features from the newer engine into the current one for this release. This way everyone can start to use them while we continue to update the engine. This is still on-going and we'll be updating the build with few more features over the next week or two.
Anyway, we hope you enjoy the new features. The ability to combine meshes is a fun way to create complex objects by joining parts together. This will take on a new level in our next update when we’ll be including hundreds of new block pieces to play with.
The Event Condition feature gives a more powerful way of controlling which Actions are triggered. This can be used to trigger an action when the player moves up on the controller and presses fire, for example.
We’ve added some improvements to the Front-End and HUD Editors, and have more plans to improve the functionality and usability of these editors.
We’ve had quite a bit of feedback on the tutorials, particularly the age of the tutorial videos. Our focus has been on the Wiki, which has quite a lot of content now. But we will create new video tutorials, as we know some people prefer this method of learning. And we will replace the old content with videos using the current version of the engine.
We wish you all the very best for 2021 and thank you again for your support.
